New York Times columnist David Brooks chastised supporters of Dr. Ben Carson and Donald Trump for showing insufficient respect for the Republican establishment.
Its like a mutiny, not a campaign, Brooks said on Sundays Meet the Press. The problem is, theres an illusion in this country, and in the Republican base, that you can govern by screaming.
Responding to host Chuck Todds earlier interview with Chris Christie, Brooks criticized the New Jersey governor for attacking the Republican party before he did Democrats. His first answer to you was not an attack on the Democrats, it wasnt an attack on Hillary Clinton it was an attack on Republicans, he said.
We have a very tough legislative system, and you need craftsmen, Brooks continued. And there is insufficient respect for that right now among the Carson and Trump supporters.

Brooks probably wants us to vote for the conservative Hillary. She’s got a crease in her cankles.

Respect has to be earned. Perhaps there is a message David Brooks is missing.

He is right, it is mutiny against the perfidy of the party leaders that refuse to stop fraudulently documented foreigners from flooding our country.
I not only don’t respect the Establishment, I loathe them and their treason.

I do not respect people that promise to accomplish certain goals and then once in office gleefully work against said goals.
That is what the Republican Party did in November of 2014. They are wholly untrustworthy and deserve no respect, only scorn and mocking.

I think we have as much respect for the GOPe as they do for us. That hasn’t seemed to bother them until now. If it does, I suggest they do what’s necessary to regain our regard.

Peter Jennings or David Brooks?
“Some thoughts on those angry voters. Ask parents of any two-year-old and they can tell you about those temper tantrums: the stomping feet, the rolling eyes, the screaming. It's clear that the anger controls the child and not the other way around. It's the job of the parent to teach the child to control the anger and channel it in a positive way. Imagine a nation full of uncontrolled two-year-old rage.
The voters had a temper tantrum last week....Parenting and governing don't have to be dirty words: the nation can't be run by an angry two-year-old.”
— ABC World News Tonight anchor Peter Jennings in his daily ABC Radio commentary, November 14, 1994
