Santa Ana pot stores off to a slow start

SANTA ANA – Turns out, selling pot in Santa Ana isn’t going to be easy.

Seven months after the city became the first Orange County municipality to hold a lottery to let small businesses sell medical marijuana, only two, South Coast Safe Access and OC3, are open.

Reasons for the slow start are varied. Some landlords and neighboring businesses aren’t thrilled about the prospect of working with or near pot merchants.

And those would-be pot sellers who have won over their neighbors say the city and local police – in spite of overwhelming approval from Santa Ana voters – aren’t exactly welcoming.

MM dispensary in nearby Huntington Beach is selling merchandise like crazy, despite warning the city will (try to) shut them down.

The cops are adamantly against legalization of pot.

It eats into their budget. Some might even have to give up their SWAT teams.

In CA, over 3/4's of all Forfeiture property is due to pot. Millions in cash, lots of personal and real property to be sold at auction.

I believe it. They prefer crime fighting to crime prevention. Sad. :(

Who are they gonna shoot at if they cant shoot at pot heads? Meth and heroin junkies shoot back! That would be dangerous for them.

This state is lost. No one would recognize any difference if the entire population was stoned.

I was in Vegas this weekend. If the stoners in OC can’t find a quack to prescribe marijuana for their hurt feelings, they should try Dr. Reefer, who has prominent billboards all around the city. Its medicinal, doncha know.
