Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are in a statistical dead heat in a hypothetical general election matchup, a new poll shows.
A Washington Post/ABC News poll of registered voters released Sunday shows the former secretary narrowly beating the bombastic billionaire 46% to 43%, but the three-percentage-point victory is well within the poll's margin of error.
Clinton's margin of victory increases substantially, however, when pollsters survey the winder field of all adults.
In that case, Clinton would beat Trump 51% to 39%.
Nearly a year before the formal nomination will occur, Clinton remains the presumptive frontrunner for the Democratic nomination, despite a tough challenge from Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
Trump, meanwhile, also appears to be the clear frontrunner for the Republican nomination, leading in a slew of state and national polls.

Reporters (I use the term advisedly) steal their salaries when they write ‘stories’ that involve numerical data.
A table would convey the information more clearly and more quickly, but that of course would prevent the so-called reporters from injecting their personal views and wearing out the Big Book of Media Cliches, especially those relating to elections (dead heat, etc.).
A poll involving registered voters is dodgy, even unrevealing. A poll of all adults is absolutely worthless, especially if you’ve met just a small fraction of all adults, most of whom are lazy, uninformed, misinformed, desperate to appear smart when they are dumb, etc.
Polls of likely voters are barely valid even a month before the election; before the conventions they too are worthless.
If true, This is REALLY bad news.
Logic says that Trump would win if it’s even close. He’s the one who will energize folks who don’t always get to the polls. And he’s going to have a lot more appeal to younger voters.
I’d like to see the head to head with ‘Heillary’ for the other candidates.
That would be instructive.

From the latest polls she has to worry about getting by Sanders before even thinking about the GOP candidate.
Democrats know that in a dead heat or close race the illegals and dead voters will always show up on election day to push them over the line in first place.
