Sheriff Joe putting down the only candidate with a solution to the problem he deals with daily makes no sense.

Perhaps he doesn’t like Trump stealing his limelight?

“Trump is all bluster. Illegal immigration and border security was a big issue before he tossed his rhetorical hand grenade into the picture.”

No it wasn’t. The only ‘solution’ mentioned was amnesty. Which would make the numbers coming over and rewarding crime worse. Not to mention, ruin the country.

To his credit, as far as the law is concerned, Arpaio is a “practicalist”. Despite what the racial agitators scream at him, he is also the furthest thing from being a racist, because he sees racism as *interfering* with the policing of the law.

To coin another word, he is a profound “anti-criminalist”. If they are arrested, convicted or serving time, he disdains them and will cut them no slack.

So what he wants above all else is to arrest *criminal* illegal aliens, then when and if they have served their time, to turn them over to the federal government for deportation. And once out of the US, for them to know that if they return, they will spend at least a decade in federal prison.

As far as those with lesser offenses, such as identity theft, his greater concern is that they first, stop breaking the law, as it harms other Americans. But then, if they no longer break the law, he does not care.

... The only ‘solution’ mentioned was amnesty......

That's factually false.

CLOSE THE BORDER.
Don’t let politicians including Trump; tell us we can’t close it until we have a wall. That’s a cop out.
Get Guard troops down there and close it asap.

Most immigration problems would melt away if that was done.

Read this part of your post, and let me know if something dawns on you:

“So what he wants above all else is to arrest *criminal* illegal aliens...”

"The settlement requires that the sherriff's office not retaliate against people criticizing Arpaio or the office..."

Sheriff Arpaio only speaks when Obama gives the okay.

I can’t agree with you. Without shutting off illegal immigration we can’t have smaller government so Trump putting the issue in the forefront and even more, blowing PC out of this election cycle we actually have a chance to reign in the government. Remember, he’s not in the general election yet so it’s normal that he would keep his criticisms on his competitors for the nomination - at least until most of the other candidates drop out. No need to show your cards to the Dem candidates yet.

Not when you’re blowing away the competition. He should consolidate and act Presidential. Go after the Dems, he doesn’t. He has no history of going after the establishment. Just the opposite. He melds with them, because he’s one of them.

Plus, it’s the other way around. We have illegals because the elites want them. They get away with it because they control the levers of power. Reduce the levers of power and they cannot get away with it. For decades they’ve been giving out Tax Identification Numbers reserved for businesses to illegal aliens. This is what they do.

Trump’s big promise is to build a wall. Who will build the wall. Who gets the contract? Union labor. Will it be built under Davis-Bacon? It’s just more boondoggle. Just like Solyndra.

Trump hasn’t stated that he’ll cut off welfare benefits. He’s intentionally vague. He’s not going to go after sanctuary cities. He’s not a small government guy.

There are a few things that mark someone as conservative for me:

1. How they approach liberty: 1st, especially 2nd Amendments, along with the 9th and 10th. Trump doesn’t make that cut.

2. Abortion. Trump doesn’t make that cut either. Since he’s gone ‘conservative’ or Republican, he hasn’t made donations to those causes we hold dear.

He’s a Trojan Horse meant to savage the GOP and pave the way for a Clinton victory. His being in the news means she’s not. It’s a puppet show. Listen to Arpaio.

No, I do not equate all illegal aliens as violent felon criminals. Taking a single MS-13 killer off the street is a hundred times more important than arresting a hundred non-criminal illegal aliens. First, and I will say this again, get rid of the violent felon criminals. Then you can worry about the rest later.

Not even the most liberal politician says they are for amnesty - it’s always ‘comprehensive reform’ or the more honest ‘pathway to citizenship’. The average American has a negative connotation about amnesty but can be duped if they blanket it under a softer term.

You can’t be honest about Trump’s history so it’s hard to take seriously, those who lecture, twist and lie about other candidates’ positions - defining what they’ve said and done, putting words in their mouths, and attributing motives to their campaigns.

But you’re need to build Trump up because he’s such a flawed candidate.

But! The polls! The polls!

He’s still a very flawed candidate and it’s out there for all to see.

But you BELIEVE! he’s what we need. I say you are wrong. VERY wrong.

Hillary will invite him and his wife to her inauguration.

And they will go and The Donald will grab the mic and tell everyone what a wonderful (terrific, fabulous, amazing) president she will be and that Bill Clinton will be an amazing first husband.

And it will somehow be my fault.

Gee, I didn’t even mention Walker and your panties are in a twist.

I don’t think Trump is the perfect candidate, but I much prefer his stance on illegals to any of the others. And since I escaped Mexifornia primarily because of illegals, that’s my issue.

You sure you want to die on the Walker hill? He has little chance and you will be miserable for 5+ years if you can’t let him go.

What hill did you die on in 2008, 2012?

None, I wasn’t thrilled with any of the RINOs. I liked Tancredo way back when but he never had a chance. I liked him for the same issue that I like Trump on. But if Trump or Cruz is not the nominee, I’m not going to post endlessly bashing everybody else.
