Great link mountainlion!

I did a AFVN thread years ago.

Oh, it gets better. Tomorrow night will bowl you over — and give you something with which to trick your friends.

THE CHAMBER MUSIC OF LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN

String Quartet in B-flat, Op. 130

Second Movement

The scherzo, marked “presto” in B-flat minor, is based on two phrases that are a musical hiccup or stutter. The middle section is helter-skelter. The beginning returns, and after a grand total of two minutes, the fun is over.

Beethoven: String Quartet in B-flat, Op. 130, second movement

THE CHAMBER MUSIC OF LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN

String Quartet in B-flat, Op. 130

Third Movement

The slow movement in sonata format is marked “andante con moto ma non troppo,” but also carries the marking “poco scherzoso,” “a little jokingly.” It starts with a somber recollection of the first movement material, but that’s part of the joke. It takes off for a genial movement with a singing development before the return.

Beethoven: String Quartet in B-flat, Op. 130, third movement
