what you said is just not true. the voters wanted a charismatic president and the Republicans did not present one.

Bush 1 ran a very lackluster re-election campaign and refused to attack the execrable KKKlinton because he was above that sort of thing. Bush II refused to defend himself against the most despicable lies and smears against him and the party allowing the Republican brand to be destroyed in 2008. The 8 years of non-stop republican demonization and the failure to groom a suitable heir apparent paved the way for a RAT victory.
