Donald Trump Stumbles and Bristles During Foreign Policy Interview
New York Times ^ | 9/3/15 | Michael Barbaro

Posted on 09/04/2015 5:08:53 AM PDT by wolfman23601

Donald J. Trump revealed gaps in his mastery of international affairs during a radio interview on Thursday, appearing to mistake the Quds Force, an Iranian military group, for the Kurds, a Middle Eastern people, and growing testy over questions about foreign leaders.

“You’re asking me names that — I think it’s somewhat ridiculous,” Mr. Trump told Hugh Hewitt, a popular conservative radio show host. “As far as the individual players, of course I don’t know them. I’ve never met them. I haven’t been, you know, in a position to meet them.”

At one point, Mr. Hewitt asked Mr. Trump if he was familiar with Gen. Qassim Suleimani, the shadowy commander of Iran’s paramilitary Quds Force.

“Yes, but go ahead, give me a little, go ahead, tell me,” Mr. Trump replied.

“He runs the Quds Forces,” Mr. Hewitt said.

“Yes, O.K., right,” Mr. Trump said.

But Mr. Trump seemed to think Mr. Hewitt was referring to the Kurds, a group with its own language and culture.

Mr. Trump asserted that “the Kurds, by the way, have been horribly mistreated.”

Mr. Hewitt interrupted. “No, not the Kurds, the Quds Forces, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Quds Forces.”

NYT doesn’t like him.
Neither does WSJ.

The NYT probably didn’t know who this guy was until yesterday.
Trump needs to be careful of the ambush questions.
The UniParty is working together to destroy anyone but Jeb/Clinton.

NYT is liberal.

WSJ is for Bush.

Both are the “enemy”, at the moment. Though I don’t think the WSJ is quite as much so.

Still the entire Fox machinery is thus far against Trump, and for Bush. I am currently looking for a conservative option.

Fox really needs, to climb down on its partisanship.

Fox be for America.

America.

There are principles, and there are details. Actions should be guided by principles. I don’t have to know how to build an interstate to get from New York to California.

He probably does. Trump just needs to start studying up on foreign leaders/groups, etc.

“As far as the individual players, of course I don’t know them. I’ve never met them. I haven’t been, you know, in a position to meet them.”

So refreshing to hear a common sense, honest answer. This response alone is why Trump will be elected.

Hewitt has been waiting in the weeds with a wonk question. Then uses Fiorina later to show Trump is not a walking encyclopedia on a bunch of faceless Islamof**k reprobates. In retrospect if I were Fiorina I would resent being used.

I did not listen to Hewitt but being the the establishment Republican he is, I assume he is in the bag for Jeb or Kasich, and we all know the NYT is pressing for a third term for Lord Obama.
I am surprised Trump was asked about a General and not the third corporal currently “training” ISIS in Anwar Province.

Hugh Hewitt of Salem Radio Network is a GOPe man who was trying to trip Trump up.

I support Cruz but I don’t support the trashing of Trump because he is a thorn in the Republican Establishment’s side.

Here’s your answer Donald:

“Are those guys gonna help restore America’s greatness? If not, who gives a rat’s patootie about them?”

I’d never heard the term “Quds Force”. I ran it against Google Trenda and the term has zero search interest outside the Middle East, and very little there. This looks like a nice little setup attack by Hewitt.

Exactly. I really don't care if some candidate has memorized the heads of state of some 200 countries. I care how he will govern based upon his principles. I care if he abides by The Constitution. The rest is media fluff.

His decisions matter, not his mastery of trivia.

Trump’s slogan is “Make AMERICA great again”. Not the Middle East.

Knowing the differences between Hezbolla or Hamas is not going to put more money in my pocket or better food on my table.

I am a fence sitter regarding Trump. but the one think I do know is that the MSM are LIARERS. Every time I see these headlines the result is the opposite of their intentions...............
