Russian jets take to Syrian skies to combat IS

Russia begins military intervention against IS in Syria; IS closes in on Damascus

Russian fighter pilots, jets and helicopters will begin arriving in Syria in the coming days to join in the offensive against the Islamic State (IS) and rebel-aligned targets within the failing state Israeli news site Ynet News reported Monday.

According to Western diplomats, Russian expeditionary forces have already arrived in Syria to set up camp in an Assad-controlled airbase near Damascus, and will operate as a Russian forward operating base.

Thousands of Russian military personnel are set to arrive in Syria over the coming weeks, including instructors, advisors, logistics personnel, technical personnel, members of the aerial protection division, and the pilots who will operate the aircraft said Ynet.

While the exact make-up the expeditionary force is unconfirmed, past reports had stated that Russia was in talks to sell Syria a package of MiG-29 fighter jets, and Yak-130 trainer jets which can also operate as attack aircraft. The new presence of Russian pilots operating combat missions over Syria is expected to drastically challenge the dynamics of the region.

According to Ynet the Russians main goal is combating IS and preserving Assad's rule. They do not have offensive intentions towards Israel or other sovereign states in the area however, their presence will challenge the Israeli Air Force's previous freedom of operation in Middle East airspace.

Going to be interesting seeing what the Russians do here. They won’t go against ISIS using the same rules and restraint as the West.

I heard a lot of stuff about how the Soviets operated, covertly, in Lebanon and Beruit in the 1980s. Specifically why they didn’t have the kind of hostage-taking problem the US and other countries did.

IS is an Obama-Hillary-McCain production, so it should surprise no one when Russia’s air power intervention turns out to be far more effective than Obama’s.

Meanwhile, Russia stands firmly behind the world's largest state sponsor of islamic terrorism.

I can't understand how these Russian trolls (YOU! and others) are allowed to remain on this site.

Put my hook in your jaw and draw you forth

Ez 38:38 The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of[a] Meshek and Tubal; prophesy against him 3 and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against you, Gog, chief prince of[b] Meshek and Tubal. 4 I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your whole army—your horses, your horsemen fully armed, and a great horde with large and small shields, all of them brandishing their swords. 5 Persia, Cush[c] and Put will be with them, all with shields and helmets, 6 also Gomer with all its troops, and Beth Togarmah from the far north with all its troops—the many nations with you.

7 “‘Get ready; be prepared, you and all the hordes gathered about you, and take command of them. 8 After many days you will be called to arms. In future years you will invade a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate. They had been brought out from the nations, and now all of them live in safety. 9 You and all your troops and the many nations with you will go up, advancing like a storm; you will be like a cloud covering the land.

The Kremlin’s Troll Army: Moscow is financing legions of pro-Russia Internet commenters:

A June article by Max Seddon of BuzzFeed reported the Kremlin was spending millions of dollars to pay English-speaking Russians to promote President Vladimir Putin and his policies in U.S. media like Fox News broadcasting and The Huffington Post and Politico news sites. Trolls are reportedly expected to manage multiple fake accounts and post on news articles 50 times a day, often with sentiments as simplistic as “Putin makes Obama look stupid and weak!”

They do this only in an attempt to win the trust of anti-Obama folks -- a clever/sneaky way to add credibility to their pro-Russia, pro-Putin BS.
Yet it seems to work on some of us! In reality, Obama is the best thing that has happened to Russia in a long time.

Putin crossing a big red line versus Obama . . .

So much for our influence in the area if they succeed. In my opinion this is also about sending a message to the Saudis . . . cut back on oil shipments or we’ll do it for you.

This absolutely should be a major news story.

Consider the implications:

Assad is supported by Teheran

Tehran supported by Moscow

Assad is now openly and militarily supported by Moscow

We have a Moscow/Teheran/Damascus axis

The participation of Russian warplanes in active combat suggests that the Russians are in Syria to stay. They certainly will have an airbase from which they can strike Israel and change the balance of power in the region. Expect them to become active in bombing Isis in Iraq as well, thus extending the Iran's hold over Iraq the more.

The Russians are already being accommodated in a Mediterranean port by the Syrians and the air power only compliments the Naval element, protects it, and augments it.

The presence of Russian warplanes in the area makes it much less likely that a new Republican president will strike militarily against Iran's nuclear facilities. Likewise, the Israelis have a new dimension on their flank should they choose to strike.

The entire balance of power will now shift toward the new Moscow/Tehran/Damascus axis which will be armed with nuclear capacity in Damascus, or potentially so, with Russian warplanes and very soon on the eastern Teheran edge with the same.

It may be that the Hillary Clinton/Barack Obama policy has brought us to this place but we also ought not to forget that the beginning of the chain of consequences began with our invasion of Iraq.

At least the Russians won’t screw around or apologies for bombing these trash into the next life.

It will be interesting to see if they go after the Kurds however.
