Do you get it? “Everybody seems to be in favor of Chick-Fil-A except Bonin, but I have to move forward.”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Bonin

"Bonin lives in Mar Vista with HIS husband, Sean Arian whom he married in the summer of 2014. Mayor Eric Garcetti performed the wedding ceremony."

... a longstanding ban on drive-thru restaurants in downtown Westchester has Los Angeles City Councilman Mike Bonin opposed to the plan ...

Like it or not, he has a solid leg to stand on here. There are any number of legitimate reasons to have a ban like this in place.

The new Chick-Fil-A drive-through in the nearby Playa Vista development (site of the former Hughes Aircraft plant and landing strip) has lines out the door during hours of operation - and never on Sunday.

Guess we don’t need the revenue and jobs in LA - better to make it parking lot.

“I would love to see a new restaurant unique to Los Angeles that reflects the food culture energy that is going on right now,” Fina said.

ironically, several years ago Chick-fil-A chickened out, its CEO no longer gives money to pro-family groups and is even working with a gay campus organization. Doesn’t matter, they’re still called “homophobic”. Might as well have stuck with their principles.

From 2012: http://www.ocregister.com/articles/fil-366686-chick-family.html

A national show of support for Chick-fil-A on Wednesday has meant jammed parking lots and roadways near the eatery’s Orange County locations, with one store representative saying they’re receiving 10 times the normal lunchtime business.

The packed restaurants are part of a national effort to support the chain, which has faced heated protests online and at its restaurants from gay-marriage advocates for comments by Chick-fil-A Chief Operating Officer Dan Cathy supporting “the biblical definition of the family unit.”

Yeah sure. Homosexual fascism strikes again.

There is a Jack in the Box, a Del Taco, and an Arby’s nearby, and there used to be a McDonalds a couple blocks away. What would be a legitimate reason? It is zoned for commercial.

Not to mention the supremely popular In-N-Out Burger drive-through a block or so away in the shadow of the 24-R runway at LAX. That’s the In-N-Out that Sean Hannity insists upon when he visits.

It’s one franchise, not the company who is working with the campus group.

“Despite Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy’s refusal to reconsider his religious-based opposition to marriage equality, there’s at least one franchise of his fast-food chain that’s committed to supporting LGBT patrons.”

Chick-Fil-A working with a gay campus organization?!

I'm sure you have a source for those accusations - especially that last one! Can't quite find it anywhere...

Here's my source: Not So Fast: Chick-fil-A Hasn't Ended All Questionable Giving

Excerpt:

But Windmeyer clarified in an interview with The Advocate that when he saw IRS tax forms last week, provided to him by Chick-fil-A officials, that several of the groups identified by Equality Matters are still indeed receiving donations.

Those groups include the Marriage and Family Foundation, National Christian Foundation and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

I was just thinking of that location. Ah the late night memories.

“recently was occupied by a group of homeless men.”

I dunno if that is the sort of neighborhood you want to have a nice business in.

The homeless have migrating from the beach communities where even the libs are fed-up. They are sleeping on airport property/sidewalks with their overflowing carts and tarps where the airport police have jurisdiction. One guesses that airport police are leaving them unmolested or they wouldn’t be there.

For the same reason my town has a zoning ordinance against drive-through establishments of any kind (including banks) in the downtown area: The parcels of land are small, the block faces are short, and there are multi-story buildings right up on the sidewalk along the property line. It’s impossible to add multiple curb cuts to accommodate a drive-through business in that area without creating a safety hazard and a congestion problem.

But what if none of those apply? This is about anti-Christian gay politics and nothing more.

Also read the story again. The property has been used as an overflow parking lot, so plenty of vehicular traffic going on and off the property.

Yes, on the grassroots thousands of Americans supported Chick-fil-A. It was great. But simultaneously, CEO Cathy was already making plans to surrender, and he chickened out and got out of the whole controversy, like a dog with his tail between his legs. See this article here:
CHICK-FIL-A CHICKENS OUT

No, Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy personally called Shane Windemeyer of Campus Pride, a gay activist organization, and Cathy went out of his way to show Windemeyer his tax returns to show him he was not going to get involved in political or social issues, in other words, was not going to campaign against same-sex marriage. The problem is your source is from 2013, that’s two years ago. Check out what Cathy said in 2014:
As the same-sex marriage debate rages, one person says he won’t be weighing in on the subject anymore: Dan Cathy, CEO and president of Chick-fil-A.
“Almost two years after he made headlines by throwing his support behind traditional marriage and later decried a pair of Supreme Court decisions that favored same-sex unions, Cathy hasn’t changed his mind. But he said Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A has no place in the culture wars and regrets making the company a symbol in the marriage debate.”
Source: http://www.myajc.com/news/business/cathy-seeks-to-put-gay-marriage-flap-behind-chick-/nfCHj/
In other words, Cathy has surrendered, is not going to rock the boat and is just going to sell chicken. I guess he sees all those social conservatives who stuck up for him as losers.
