The Trump factor (Jerusalem Post)

President Donald Trump? Really? How are we to understand this astonishing development, and what does it say about voters? I believe that last weekend’s Trump rally attended by 30,000 people in a football stadium in Mobile, Alabama, gives us a clue. For almost the entire 53-minute speech, Trump mentioned only three policy issues. First he talked about illegal immigration, saying that Americans have been killed and raped by illegal immigrants, and that the only solution is his famed plan to build a wall between the United States and Mexico.

Then Trump talked about Ford and Nabisco moving their factories and jobs to Mexico, and that the only solutions is his plan to tax them to the point that they are forced to move their plants back to America. It touched a nerve: When voters believe that their physical and economic security is at stake, and only one person is willing to raise those issues and present a simple solution to tackle them, they will overlook all his other failings and rally behind him.

*snip*

There is one additional element to Trump’s success which cannot be ignored. During that 53-minute speech in Mobile, he did not read from a teleprompter or from notes.

Indeed, it did not feel like much of a speech at all, but simply a presidential candidate having a candid conversation with the audience.

And the people loved it. He was folksy.

He was spontaneous. He was all over the place. He was human.

During the last few minutes, Trump spoke of repealing Obamacare, he condemned the Iranian nuclear deal, and he urged strengthening the military – the standard Republican Party line. But these were almost afterthoughts.

One more tiny snippet from the article:
Israel is in dire need of a leader with the Trump Factor...

Such a leader will get Israel back on course, and make Israel great again.

The fact is that successful campaigns deal with three to five issues total . They don’t need a a fifty page paper on a thousand issues, they need a four or five bullet points on three or four issues.

No one can solve everything, but they say they have a solution for it. Then nothing gets done. So, you say you can solve three or four things and if you can solve two you go down as a historically accomplished President.

That is why good presidents are also good managers. They hire high quality people, tell them what they want accomplished and get out of their way so they can do it.

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton refuses to answer anything other than carefully screened questions from supporters.

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton refuses to answer anything other than carefully screened questions from supporters.

It feels less and less like the Republican nominee will have to worry about Hillary. What the Republican nominee will need to be able to do however, is articulate why socialism is bad for America. Sadly, I fear there are too many of the 47%-ers that think a softer, more gentle socialism would be good for us.

If you listened carefully he did not say he would tax them. He said he would threaten to tax them and they would voluntarily move back. Big difference.

All Trump has to say is "how's socialism working out for Venezuela? Or for that matter, anywhere else? That's want Bernie/Hillary/Joe want for America."

Israel is great. The writer is a dingbat.

He mentions three items in closing, and it’s called an afterthought.

No, it was merely part of his presentation.

DUH!

Yep. That was odd.

What I thought was interesting was that the writer, Dov Lipman, is an Israeli and a member of the Knesset.

I don’t know their system very well, but they do have some very wigged out Leftists. This may or may not be one of them.

Israel has been very patient with the U. S. I think it’s because Netanyahu knew Obama was an idiot, and “this too shall pass”.

is his famed plan to build a wall between the United States and Mexico.

I thought Israel knew all about building walls to keep people out.
