Sen. Ted Cruz calls out to pastors for support against Planned Parenthood
Christian Post ^ | August 26, 2015 | Marvie Basilan

Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz has invited 100,000 pastors to participate in a conference held Tuesday, which talked about how to defund Planned Parenthood.

According to the Christian Broadcasting Network, Cruz's email to the thousands of pastors stated how he denounced "Planned Parenthood's barbaric practices of harvesting the body parts of innocent babies and selling them to the highest bidder."

While Cruz is seen by some voters and election critics to be a tad farther behind the race, the Texas lawmaker continues to step on high gear this week as he pushes for a 50-state campaign that looks toward ending taxpayer support for Planned Parenthood, the country's largest abortion service provider.

Published in full by CBN, the email said, "As the son of a pastor, I know you bear a high and holy calling on your lives. I am urging you to confront this evil in our nation by praying and preaching with an unbridled passion until funding for Planned Parenthood ends, and this barbaric practice is purged from the land."

The plan is aimed at two weeks of encouraging churchgoers to pressure their elected representatives to defund Planned Parenthood.

Earlier this month, the U.S. Senate has failed to push for a Republican-sponsored bill that would have canceled more than $500 million in funds that the women's health organization receives.

Cruz is just one of the many advocates who has publicly expressed angst over the selling of aborted baby parts in several Planned Parenthood clinics, as revealed by the Center for Medical Progress in a series of undercover videos.

The senator is now faced with fierce competition for the social conservative vote, and experts say his efforts against Planned Parenthood could put him outside the box of candidates like Gov. Bobby Jindal, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, and business mogul Donald Trump, who is the current GOP frontrunner.

I suspect the minister of our little local Baptist church will be on board.

When the gay marriage ruling came down he said he was done pandering to government by keeping his mouth shut for a tax exemption. They’re a tiny country church with little beyond the building that can be taxed. I’m not a member but I and others have offered to donate to help pay taxes if it comes to that.

Speak up when talking to your pastor or priest and talk to other members.

He won’t get much support from the Worldwide Church of Satan, formerly known as the Episcopal, Methodist, Presbyterian and Lutheran churches.

Well I am Methodist but I’m willing to financially support the Baptist church I don’t attend because they are becoming increasingly vocal about doing the right and Godly thing.

I bet I can name a few who won’t be involved. They don’t want to offend any possible future book buyers.

Every pastor who does not participate is a fraud and does not serve the true God. If your pastor doesn’t participate you should stand up in the middle of Sunday’s service and announce you are leaving and why. Otherwise, you’re supporting someone who is supporting baby killers. Just as simple as that.

At least your pastor admitted that he had been pandering because of a tax exemption. He had been trying to serve two masters. Good for him.

Thx for posting this.

I saw an article on the sidebar yesterday about this teleconference...clicked into it, and copied the info for calling in, etc. While I was listening, I went to click into that sidebar article again to see if anyone else was on the call, but the article was gone. I couldn’t figure that out! I was just glad I managed to capture the info before it went poof.

Apparently, the website of the people who facilitated this teleconference is defundtoday.com

I didn’t know until I was on the call that it was for pastors only, but I listened anyway. Sen Cruz called for pastors to talk about this issue in sermons on the next 2 Sundays, and urge congregants to contact representatives in the first part of September...there is some sort of vote coming up in Sept...continuing resolution??

I’d be interested to know if there’s a tidal wave of pastors talking about this in sermons the next 2 Sundays...wish I knew how many attended the teleconference.

Unless I wrote this incorrectly in my notes, Cruz said that $500 million tax dollars go to these butchers!

Did anyone else get to listen to Sen. Cruz on this teleconference?

They need to speak up.

Even if you’re “pro-choice”, these activities are horrific.

Meanwhile, frontrunner Trump, the darling of FR, the Saviour of America, says we should “move on” from SCOTUS nullifying the 10th amendment and shoving sodomite marriage down our throats. It’s time conservatives unite behind a conservative.

Agreed. As pastors concern themselves with growing their churches, the country goes to crap.

I'm glad you made it to this thread to report about the call before this thread was removed from the sidebar.

I hope this question doesn’t open a can of worms, but...

Why would these articles be poofed? Were they just poofed from the sidebar?

I truly don’t get it!
