re: But how dare this guy call out someone else’s sin as if he is without sin. Perhaps he should look in the mirror for the log in his own eye. His most obvious sin is pride.

It seems to me that you are doing what you accused the brother-in-law of doing. You are accusing him of pride. And as you have mentioned, you are not without sin. So by your own statement, you have no position to condemn this young man who loves his sister and is outraged at what her husband has done to her.

Fair enough.

However:

The way this information was revealed is the one element that distinguishes this from all-to-common secret adultery that is discovered by the spouse.

In this case, the family of his wife was hurt by the publicity.

The original act was no better or worse simply because of the publicity.

Acting out of love doesn’t justify behavior. Perhaps in his sick way, Josh Duggar thought he was acting out of love.

No, thank goodness. But they wanted us to know them.

Honestly, would you exposed your loved ones to TV cameras. My wish is to keep my family s far from the public as possible. Love of money is the root of all evil.

The mom bugs me. Always a piercing “ssss” sound with every word she utters.

Gothard has also been exposed to be a pervert. I understand parents desire is to raise faithful children in an unfaithful world, my desire as well. But a formula written by a human, laws and rules abounding, is dangerous in its dogmatism. The truth and God’s way can get lost. It is pretty remarkable that with so many children more don’t appear to be rebellious. God bless them and keep them.

Numbers 32:23 refers to ‘your sins will find you out’. I may not be applying this correctly but so often, especially for Christians or those to claim the name of Christ, it is true. And it is bound to be good for Josh if he responds correctly. Lots to deal with on all sides of his life. He has nothing left but God and if he humbles himself he can make it. Consequences will still be there.

Duggar-bots,

Why is it OK for Christians to call out and judge gays and abortionists, but not a pedophile and adulterer? Is it because he is a “Christian”?

I find no joy in this. I feel sorry for his wife and children who have to live with the personal pain of his indiscretions.
I know we are all sinners, however I think the very public black eye he has given Christianity and the conservative cause needs to be recognized. If one is going to be a spokesperson or promoter of a set of rules, that person needs to be living by those rules. He was not and his actions and words set him up as the target to be frozen and ridiculed when his secrets were exposed. The situation he finds himself in is not the fault of Alinski nor the hackers of Ashley Madison. Josh brought this on himself and he needs help. I hope he really gets it this time.

re: Perhaps in his sick way, Josh Duggar thought he was acting out of love.

You lost me there. How could Josh Duggar possibly be thinking that he was acting out of love while being a serial adulterer and cheating on his wife, the mother of his four little children? Never-mind exposing her to possibility of STDS which could harm his wife and her babies?

We all sin. That doesn’t mean that we can’t be spokesmen for Christianity. We’re not hypocrites, since we admit to being sinners.

But there is a matter of degree, and also the issue of causing scandal.

Exactly. He opened himself up for this. Not saying he’s not a creep but the left will use any event to further their assault on Christians. They have their own “book.”

He’ll face consequences for sure. Hopefully severe.

Absolutely correct on the Duggars. They’d give me the creeps and I don’t know if I could feiend them in any meaning ful way.

I believe I acknowledged we are all sinners and no that does not prevent our proclaiming Christ, but Josh Duggar knew he had a problem which would destroy his family and still set himself up for that sin to be publicly uncovered, bringing immense pain and humiliation to his family and scandal to the Christian organization where he worked. I feel sorry for all of them.

...the left ... (a)re displaying a total double standard here...

Not quite. Back when Clinton was president, the left had been pushing for years for better protection for women in the workplace. Once Clinton was outed as a serial harasser, suddenly sexual harassment and women's workplace issues weren't all that important. Their principals, and his predatory behavior, were less important than not agreeing with their political opponents. That's a double standard, and why it was so hypocritical on their part. In this case, people are simply holding Josh to his own professed standards, the same standards he's build his career around holding everyone else to. It's Josh's defenders who are mostly embracing a double standard, arguing that his behavior, and their principals, matter less than not agreeing with their political opponents. Clinton harassed. No one made him prey on women who needed their jobs. It was his own fault, and he was never held accountable. Josh cheated. No one made him prey on his sisters, no one made him sign up for a cheaters' website. It's his own fault, and he's being held accountable. All you're doing by complaining about the people who are shining a light on his behavior is demonstrating that you're exactly the same as all those feminists who supported Clinton no matter what he did.
