Trump Has Early Lead in Oregon—But Will It Last?

Currier said that Trump’s stand on immigration has struck a chord with many in Oregon. Trump has spoken often on the subject, and has campaigned on a platform of stricter regulations. He has also said he wants to build a wall between the United States and Mexico to help fortify the border.

Currier said those views resonate with many voters in Oregon.

“He’s obviously connecting with people on the topic of immigration, or I don’t think his support would be as strong,” he said.

He noted that immigration has been a hot topic in Oregon recently, and said that the defeat of a provision that would have provided driver cards to those who cannot prove their legal residency is a prime example.

“Immigration in Oregon is a major issue right now,” he said. “Measure 88 failed by a margin of two-to-one, and I think you’re seeing that reflected in his support.”

John Horvick, vice president and political director of DHM, said Trump’s views on immigration appeal to voters who value that issue above all others. He agreed it has helped his campaign in Oregon.

“Immigration is one of the issues that if it maters to people, then it really matters to people,” he said. “I think the language he’s using on the subject is really resonating with people who care about that.”

“Will he last, will it last, when will he implode.....” Tiresome, isn’t it?

Maybe it will be over for Trump when our anger subsides. >< sarc/

Trump - good words on immigration, lousy on taxes.

Why?

Trump supports the progressive tax code and has attacked Scott Walker for not RAISING taxes in Wisconsin....even though they are running a surplus.

Trump is meeting with Steve Forbes, Art Laffer, and Stephen Moore (economist with the Heritage Foundation) in a few weeks to hammer out tax policy.

Will probably be a flat tax.

Erik is misinformed. and you are correct

the meeting of the tax minds will result in a proposal that will start the momentum all over again on a different subject with different stellar advisors.

Consider Laffer..... he had the good sense to move from LA to Nashville.

Steve Forbes has promoted the tax for years and for good measure will promote as a part of it overall the medical savings account that will be a part of the Obamacare replacement

Stephen Moore, Heritage Foundation , Jim Demint strength

Trump is one upping hs competition by strong flanking measures that include the best of the best advisors.

Rather than talk about the past or issue talking points, Trump is doing...... now. When the asshole Steffie asks about substance, The Donal can cram the study group proposals up his aaaa

Actions speak louder than words

meanwhile..... go Scott

oh, and one more thing.....

that’s just what we know about.

We don’t yet know for instance, the retired generals and admirals on his advisor list.

We don’t yet know for instance, the physicians and congress types on his repeal and replace Obamacare advisor list

Gathering minds is a brilliant tactic

Yes, Trump met with Senator Jeff Sessions as well to talk immigration. But meetings do not make policy and Trump is not beholden to his word.

Trump is meeting with Forbes, Laffer and Moore only after he praised progressive taxes.

Now, Trump is attacking Gov Scott Walker for not raising taxes in Wisconsin.

Sorry, but those putting their faith in this smooth talker will regret it.

I’m an observer reporting my findings.

There might be regret, but it will be over President Trump

Go Scott!!

Trump: “He’s [Walker] stopped a lot of work because he doesn’t want to raise taxes, so instead of raising taxes he’s borrowing...”

THIS is what you support?

Trump sounds like a liberal who refuses to stop spending and will turn to tax increases first.

Smooth talker? He's anything but.

He is telling you what you want to hear. Once he has the nomination, he will abandon all that talk.

You can already tell....when he is in Detroit he talks about stopping Ford from building a plant in Mexico (real capitalist) because its a union audience......when he talks to conservatives, like Mark Levin, he talks about a strong military.

This guy will say anything to get your support and will not feel an iota of guilt when he changes his mind.

When you complain, he will say you are not thinking like he is thinking.

Ok lets play with that thought..... The Deal? how about an adjective?

New Deal? no that’s been taken

Big Deal...... that’s getting there

Are you mental? Did you not hear Trump's attack on Gov Walker? Did you not comprehend what Trump was saying?

You support a progressive tax and spend liberal, yet say we have voices in our heads.

Ah, so it’s “Walker who must not be criticized”. Voting for a winner who scares the crap out of the GOPe, not the person Erik wants to date.
