A man who was shot in both legs by a black gang during a home invasion was lying on the ground, bleeding profusely, as emergency responders attended to his wounds.
In excruciating pain, he had a single message for the attackers: Forgive them Father, they know not what they have done.
Michael Lashs recitation of Luke 23:34 was related by his wife, Whitney Lash, who posted an update of her husbands condition on a GoFundMe page launched by friends trying to raise a little help for the family.
The attack happened late Sunday at their home in Atlanta. WSB-TV reported a gang of teens with guns approached Michael Lash, but he told them he would not allow them in his house, where his wife and two children were.
The response was a gunshot in each leg, the report said.
Lashs mother-in-law, Jessica Huffman, told the station he was a hero. And she warned that the dangerous perpetrators are now fugitives from criminal justice.
If theyve done it once, I think theyll do it again, she said.

Dude,,,
smart. very smart.
I’m glad they lived to tell the story; often they don’t.
Christ said that in reference to the soldiers who were crucifying Him. They were ignorant of who He was.
These knuckleheads, on the other hand, know exactly what they are doing and to whom they are doing it to and that it is wrong. It is nice that the victim is able to forgive but they deserve punishment.
Good man to reflect on Gods word during this trial. God speed.
Perhaps the state of Georgia won’t be so quick to “forgive” the punks.
“...word that her husband’s surgery was successful.”
******************************************************************************************************
Even if the wounds were “only” flesh wounds, after each leg being injured by a 40 calibre bullet any surgery would only be PARTIALLY successful. Any destroyed muscle will NOT regenerate—it’s like brain tissue. So hopefully not too much tissue was destroyed and/or had to be removed in surgery.
In any case, prayers up for a speedy recovery.
I hope they can do some cold laser therapy on his wounds.
Handsome guy, gorgeous wife, ruined by punks. Catch ‘em, kill ‘em!
We want God to be forgiving. We ourselves shouldn’t be.
Atlanta, unfortunately, is a third-world hellhole. I would never so much as consider driving through there, let alone living there.
Two things to know. This happened in Georgia and folks here tend to be churchy. Second this took place in Buckhead, a trendy young metro Atlanta enclave. Folks with pretty good money, lots of white guilt, and not enough sense to be useful,
Up here in the north woods, if they opened they door the home owner would be locked and loaded
I’m sorry, Norm, we are also to be forgiving. Nonetheless, the government is charged by God to uphold the laws. It is one thing for the victim to forgive his attackers. This means he is turning lose his anger, bitterness and his desire for revenge.
It is another thing for the civil authorities to uphold justice. Without it, there is anarchy and evil will flourish. Civil authorities must apprehend and punish evildoers.
Forgiveness is personal. Justice should be impersonal.
Nice sentiments, but they knew good and GD well what they’d done.
And they’ll have plenty of time to think about it while sharing a cell with Big Turk, the one-eared homicidal maniac with the tattoos who doesn’t use Vaseline.
Don’t bend over in the shower, kids.
it will NEVER stop if we don't....
it will never ever stop....
what is it with these happy victims?....I suspect that they are just weak....that's the way I see it....
I will pray to be forgiven while I work the slide on my Mossberg. The days of unlocked doors and safe neighborhoods are history, the barbarians are through the gates.
He “forgives” a pos criminal right after being shot in the legs? This is crazy and obviously a way to cope psychologically for the victim. Its not real forgiveness anyway.
You were known as the naked gun
He is seeking justification for his cowardice.
