Jeb Bush's biggest hurdle: himself
CNN ^ | Mon August 17, 2015 | Maeve Reston

Des Moines, Iowa (CNN)Jeb Bush faces many challenges in his bid to become the Republican presidential nominee: a position on immigration that's unpopular among many primary voters, a last name that evokes strong feelings and an insurgent Donald Trump who shows no sign of giving up his commanding lead in the polls.

But perhaps the biggest challenge for the former Florida governor is himself.

After a flat performance in the first debate and a slide backward in national and early state polls, the former Florida governor has taken to calling himself the "joyful tortoise" of the race, a role that many did not expect the candidate with more than $100 million to be playing. But at a time when Republican voters are looking for a candidate to channel their anger and frustration, Bush's bookish -- sometimes awkward -- demeanor is preventing him from connecting with wide swaths of the primary electorate.

He refuses to compete with Trump's antics and swatted away questions about his current position in the race during his recent visit here.

Who are these smart GOPe clowns that thought it would be a good idea to throw $100+ million behind him?

That kind of money could have gone to good use. There are a lot of poor needy people that could have benefited from that waste. It just show you that some people with a lot of money can be real dunces.

Bush’s bookish — sometimes awkward — demeanor is preventing him from connecting with wide swaths of the primary electorate.

It’s not his demeanor, it’s his Democrat in an R jersey policy positions that prevent him from connecting with Republican voters.
Republican voters do not support Commie-Core, Gore-Bull Warming, Amnesty for Illegal Aliens and ¡Yeb! does.

A “joyful tortoise”?

We’ve already got one tortoise, that worthless piece of RINO-dung Mitch McConnell, doing the bidding of his massa, Filthy Harry Reid. We don’t need any more tortoises.

The only thing Jebuardo Boooooosh needs to do is to GTFO.

“Jeb Bush faces many challenges in his bid to become the Republican presidential nominee:”

BS, he’s a post turtle now and will be a post turtle
presidential candidate. He’s a liar and his tell is
when he turns his head slightly to the right while
he thinks he’s making a point. He doesn’t really
believe what he’s saying but after hours of practicing
in the bathroom mirror he thinks it’s a convincing
pose. He will be the nominee and if he wins he will
perpetuate the Obama legacy. Something Hillary probably wouldn’t do.

Their thinking may not be along the lines of ¿Yeb winning, but trying to ensure that either a 'Rat wins, or a Constitutional Conservative loses, or both.

Very good point. I believe they did the same for McLame.

[[Bush’s bookish — sometimes awkward — demeanor is preventing him from connecting with wide swaths of the primary electorate.]]

News to you CNN:

Dr. Carson is bookish and awkward, sometimes hesitant,
But its not a problem. The problem with Jeb is his positions on the issues. Also, he does not have Carson’s steel sharp intellect.

When Kerry was down and out he said “I guarantee you I’ll be the nominee.” When McCain was broke he said something along the same lines. Now I see Jeb calling himself a tortoise. That’s his way of saying “This is in the bag.”

The gopE will not allow Trump to be the nominee. They actually believe the Trump followers will go back to George Will’s party if Trump goes third party.
