There was an agreement to raise the fee, so there is more income, but not nearly enough to pay for the building.

Fee? Isn't it just the standard Wisconsin income tax placed on earnings generated within the state? How could they raise the tax just on NBA players?

'cause John Roberts said they could!

Seriously, it was a negotiated part of the deal.

Anti-Walker activists can put that in their pipe and smoke it!

Walker is my second choice behind Cruz, but I absolutely oppose this and any other taxpayer funding of sports arenas. They always throw all these numbers around and try to make it sound as if the taxpayer isn't really paying for it, but in the end, we know they always do. The owners of these teams have hundreds of millions of dollars. They can bloody well secure any funding they need on their own. If it makes sense from a business perspective, they'll have no trouble gaining whatever funding they need. It's not like their credit scores suck.

Details of Walker’s Bucks arena deal. It’s a win/win for the State and for the taxpayers. Really.

Freep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.

What happens is, if the team leaves the state, the income tax the players pay go with them. I don't support public money for sports arenas in general, but this one is pretty benign as they go. The owners have skin in the game and there was a very real threat that they would move.

If there was a federal law that prohibited states and cities from doing this, then the threat to move would be diminished and it would be easier to stand firm against funding.

Like any business, if you can invest $1 to make $1.50, you should do it. The numbers in this case seem realistic and not made up at least.

The plain wording of the article itself shows the taxpayers getting “serviced” by the sports team and owners as usual.

The convoluted “logic” used to hide that fact already has this baby “spinning” at 10,000 rpm before any posters’ comments.

This same brand of crap was used to foist THREE new stadiums on Harris County, AND fat new goobermint bureaucracies.

Walker certainly isn’t alone.

It still sucks.

Trump’s job is to hack at Walker. Trump needs the unions on his side.

Who’s going to believe a Democrat on cronyism and what does RKBA stand for anyway? Unionistas hate Walker.

Oddly the article doesn’t mention the financial losses that would have followed if the Bucks had been given to another city.

====”We’re still working on this estimate. We believe that if nothing is done, let’s just say nothing is done, the Bucks leave, where are we here. We estimate to just to be able to maintain for safety issues and basic maintenance, it will cost $100 million over the next 10 to 12 years,” Marotta said.==

state coffers would suffer the loss of an estimated $299 million in income tax collections over 20 years from the Bucks and visiting NBA players.
