Call it “Little House of Representatives.” Actress Melissa Gilbert, who rose to fame as a child playing Laura Ingalls Wilder on “Little House on the Prairie,” has announced she will challenge Michigan freshman Republican Rep. Mike Bishop.
Gilbert moved to Michigan in 2014 with actor husband Timothy Busfield (“Revenge of the Nerds”).
In June of 2015, it was revealed that IRS had filed a tax lien against Gilbert for $360,000 in unpaid taxes.

Living in Michigan all of a year. I don’t think the locals are going to go for that.
At least when Nancy Kulp moved back to PA to run for Congress she could make the argument that she was born here. Other than through her husband Gilbert has no ties to Michigan.
How is it with all of her financial problems can she be running for Congress?
Is she under the illusion that the IRS will give her a special dispensation while she does this running as a Democrat and then just wipe away her debt by magic?
Can’t wait to see how this plans out.
She probably should have stayed in the little house on the prairie, the taxes was probably about five dollars.
I loved Timothy Busfield in the crummy angst-driven series 30 Something, which totally sucked.

Most of us look pretty rough without living a pampered life with a makeup artist following us around with a powder puff all day.

The current actors’ union president is Ken Howard (The White Shadow). SAG merged with AFTRA, the TV and radio performers’ union, in 2012.
I think Gilbert ran the former SAG union about a decade ago.

It’s the talking off-script that is usually the problem.
Some of our local radio guys were talking about this when their union merged with SAG in 2012. Apparently they picked up a few new perks, like free movie tickets and video rentals.
Ken Howard may be a conservative. His main concern as President seems to be providing more job opportunities for his members. That means less strident demands on the studios, which is apparently p*ssing off his Leftist union members.
Past Presidents of that union are an interesting bunch. Eddie Cantor. Ronald Reagan. Charlton Heston. Ed Asner. James Cagney. Dennis Weaver. Patty Duke.
Timothy Busfield’s PR person needs fired. He’d do better to pay off her tax bill than have it reflect on him. Or better yet to tell her to pay it herself or no whoopy.
They had been renting a small house in town for a few years but they moved to the country a few months ago. Don’t know if they bought or are still renting. That’s a head scratcher with all the money you know they’re bringing in. Oh, well, siphon off a few dollars from the campaign donations and pay off the tax bill.

When I was in high school in the 60’s every girl with a nose job looked just like Gilbert.
