The first two barely won the presidencywhy should the GOP gamble with another?
If Republicans nominate a third Bush to face a second Clinton, they will suffer their third consecutive loss in the battle for the White House. Each of those losses will have been rooted in one undeniable fact: a milquetoast, Washington establishment-backed nominee is unelectable.
Grassroots conservatives, rank-and-file Republicans and Tea Party supporters have figured this out. Since the Washington establishment blessed Jeb Bush with the title of front-runner last December, he has steadily lost support.
I know this base. I have worked with them for over three decades. I have raised tens of millions of dollars for Republican candidates only to see one after another betray the very constituents who put him (or her) in office.
I have watched grassroots conservatives go from trust in their elected officials, to surprise at their change of positions, to frustration at their lack of backbone and now to open disgust with candidates and their high-priced political consultants pretending to support positions they oppose and who make pledges they have no intention of honoring. The grassroots conservative base of the Republican Party has no use, none whatsoever, for any more moderates. (Thats one of the reasons that I have personally endorsed Ted Cruz for president.)
The lead-up to the Bush announcement came with the predictable, delusional spin about his electability that mocks the wisdom of Republican primary voters. But its not working. As of this writing, Bushs poll average is a pathetic 12.5 percent. More than a month after his official launch, over 85 percent of Republicans are repeatedly telling pollsters they prefer someone else as their nominee.
The GOP establishment donor class, dominated by the crony capitalists at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce
(Excerpt) Read more at politico.com ...
the chamber of commerce, i almost wrote congress, is into doing business, and paying tribute to the government to protect their slice of the pie is one way of doing business in this crony crapitalistic era.
go cruz, end this impractical economic system.
But... but... It’s His Turn!
But... but... It’s His Turn!
There must be a divorce between the GOP and the Chamber of Commerce before we can hope to take the country back.
If PIAPS gave Yeb one of her balls they would both have two.
“Barely won” ... and then squandered the opportunities. The two Bush regimes hardly even qualify as holding actions against the statist/leftist onslaught, ranging from limp opposition to outright embrace. If you want to see more of what little liberty you have left lost to Leviathan then elect another Bush.
What’s Polutico doing here with an article authored by a Conservative?
Bush was one of those whose numbers actually went down after the debate, even though he had the 2nd highest amount of face time/questions.
That should reverberate through the RNC and ‘major donors’.
Bush 1 lost after one term to the hick from Arkansas.
Bush 2 barely beat Gore and Kerry.
The Bush name is still toxic. Obama won 2 terms by running against it.
Or the Chamber needs to be humbled and return to fighting the good fight like they did just a few years ago on Obamacare. They led the way to fight it to the point of being singled out by Obama in the SOTU. Much like the Supreme Court, they miraculously found the big government god soon-after.
Becuzz all that MUNNIEEE!!!
The RINOS will give (consultants, newspapers, media types) LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of munnnieee!!!
That’s what it’s all about—isn’t it? I mean, who the hell wants to actually WIN and have all those problems to deal with? Democracy in thishere republic is just soooooo messy.
The 800 lb. gorilla in the room. It's infuriating to hear commentators on radio and TV casually including Jeb in the list of GOP contenders without pointing that out.
¡Yeb! is running to be the first President of North Mexico.
I’m never voting for that.
Nothing personal against Jeb.
I just believe, absolutely, that our Representative Constitutional Republic, 12-15 years in the making, struggled very hard to ensure that Royalty and dynasties were permanently out of the question.
Even by popular vote, it simply is not possible (Constitutionally.)
What kind of a Free Nation would it be if it could vote itself into slavery?
