A CNN Founder Answers Why The Media Is Often One-Sided When It Comes To Guns
Forbes ^ | 7/23/2015 | Frank Miniter

The reporting on why U.S. Army personnel stationed at recruiting centers aren’t allowed to be armed has to make anyone who knows a little about guns, and the gun issues, wonder if those news outlets are aware of what they’re not reporting? Do they understand why some Americans feel compelled to stand outside Army recruiting centers with guns? Any curious person might then wonder if ignorance or bias is the central reason why the mainstream media so often ignores studies and facts that are inconvenient to the anti-gun-rights point of view? There are, after all, over 100 million gun owners in the U.S., so how can mainstream journalists not be aware of basic facts about guns or of the reasons behind other points of view?

...

what happened to CNN is what happened to Hollywood. The news, like Hollywood, became trapped in creating and fawning over celebrities. Getting Anderson Cooper publicized became more important than breaking the big story. When you have celebrity reporters telling you how they feel about being in Iraq instead of reporting on how our troops are doing you begin to lose perspective. With guns, instead of going to gun ranges, gun-owner’s homes, instead of interviewing women who’d stopped an attacker, and instead of really trying to understand the world such women live in and what they’re going through, they just tell us how they feel. Katie Couric, Diane Sawyer, and the rest are stars, not reporters. They’re not hunting for the truth. They’re telling you what they think and what they think all comes from the cocktail parties on Manhattan’s Upper East Side and from conversations with other reporters.”

How can you say that about our betters?

They are only trying to help, by telling us what to think since we are too stupid to figure it out on our own.

Because the credo of the liberal has always been, “My mind is made up. Don’t confuse me with the facts.”?

Remember the adage of “Those who can, DO, those who can’t teach!”, well the journalism schools where this generation of news-beasts almost exclusively come from, are taught by the 1960-80s radicals who couldn’t do! The gent who is the subject of this article as a co-founder of CNN, went on to keep on DOing, just not there at CNN. This is a good expose of how TV news becomes personality / celebrity TV.

The weather channel has now become as sullied as the midday reporting of news, by a starch-haired ‘Ted’, more interested in his image and faux onscreen personality, than his true humanity, when he is alone.

My response, is that button on the side of the tv, or the one on the remote control, CLICK!

Much of the reason is barely mentioned: the insular culture of the old media, where conservatives need not apply, or are drummed out when they dare reveal themselves.

You do not see Conservative celebrities in the old media.

Sorry, to disagree with you but it’s not that at all - those on the nation’s Socialist left LOVE guns in their hands, they just don’t want them in the hand of those who oppose their tyranny.

I could never do that. Some folks might but not I. I don't own a gun and I'll never have a carry license and won't be getting one. I don't even like to hunt or fish and I'll just continue to do my protesting of issues by writing here. Lol.

And you do not hear them asking the anti gun celebrities if they avail themselves of armed security. It really does not matter if their gated limited access communities, clubs with hardcore security, or preferential treatment in the gun ownership process because of their “special” status...they love guns, but only in their sphere. They could live in a world without guns...except those in their service.

Hypocrisies...the new way...easier, faster, sexier and richer. But it is still nonsense.
