I don't like giving Yahoo hits, so I didn't read this whole version here, and don't know what all was mentioned, but I read this story on FR prior to today. The drone was hovering low enough to get under a 10' deck cover. It was going down a row of houses, from the backside, and appeared to be hovering long enough at each place to be considered trespassing/peeping/scouting for places to rob. Other neighbors raised concerns, as well.
You can buy one watt lasers. (not cheap unless you build it yourself.) They will burn paper, or pop balloons. Will certainly take out a drone.
Looks like a 2-watt blue laser is available through Amazon for a little under $200.00. Cheaper than a good many firearm and a felony arrest!
A chaff launcher dispersing fine filament will be sufficient to ensnare drone propellers and drop an intruder from the sky. If the launcher has track and intercept capability, all the better. Less material expenditure and subsequent cleanup will be involved.
That would certainly be less loud. However, I think given the shot used by the person referenced in the article, I’d say he should be le off with a stern speaking to.
I couldn’t afford a drone even if I wanted one ;^)
Very nice! I think you may be on to the next multi-million dollar idea!!!! Do you mind if I steal it from you?
Yeah, I’ve seen those before. Not cheap. Also, extremely dangerous. People do not understand how fast a 1W laser can permanently damage your eyes. These things are cool, but are definitely NOT toys. I’d love to see if something like that could take a drone out though.
No it won’t. Been in dove fields with other hunters? Raining pellets don’t have a high mass so not much energy in free fall. Going out the barrel a chemical reaction is used to accelerate the particles. Coming down like sand. #8 shot has no range but the range it has if used on a drone would be perfect for the city. JMHO
