Bat “stuff” Leftists, are crazy. They see themselves as centrists. That’s why they see dead center Constitutionalists as extreme right.

In addition...

When the GOPe, the RNC, or individual Republicans call Tea Party members (code for Conservatives, although I might not always agree on that), they are joining the Bat “stuff” Leftists to make that determination.

They have to go far left, to see Tea Party members (again code: for Conservatives) as crazies.

Left wingers are made of the same stuff as Nazis, Stalinists, and the Khmer Rouge were. Most people who vote left wing have no idea who they are really voting for - they simply vote that way because they are herd animals and the Left, through the media it controls, has successfully given the impression that left wing thought is the norm.

about another 30% of all journalists need to ‘catch on’. But they won’t.
Liberals believe they are better educated, thus smarter and make more well informed decisions then the southern, conservative sub-humans.
Their mind is made up, it is based on superior intellect, and if you disagree, you are a sub-human, hate-filled racist.

They're just dummies who have let their echo chamber convince them they're smart.

High technology and pervasive communications have given people of their ilk such an overblown sense of their own validity that our civilization is now drowning under a tidal wave of their nonsense.

That's why Trump is so clever to keep referring to them as "stupid politicians." His message is: it's not leftism, or rightism, it's stupidism that's causing the problems.

Well, it doesn’t immediately cause warning flags to go up to a Leftist, so I think you have a point there.

Well, it doesn’t immediately cause warning flags to go up to a Leftist, so I think you have a point there.

I often think of something I heard Ed Koch (former mayor of NYC) say.

It was in maybe 1983 or 1984. He was giving an impromptu sidewalk press conference, and a reporter (or someone pretending to be a reporter) asked him some question about the availability of low-cost housing in Manhattan. The question was "loaded," by which I mean it was phrased in a way that sounded like it came directly out of some publication of the Socialist Workers Party.

Koch - who many thought of as quite the liberal - answered by saying "but the people who believe that also believe there should be no private property."

The "reporter" pressed on, talking about the profits of big companies and the salary of the average teacher, etc., etc. Koch let them go on for a while, and then said "look, we're not going to turn the entire economy upside down so you can walk to work instead of taking the bus."

I thought that exchange was so, so clever. Koch was clearly marking the "reporter" as a communist or at least socialist, but he wouldn't allow himself to be drawn into an ideological quagmire by uttering either of those words. Instead he said "people who think like that are also people who don't believe in private property" which (a) was true, (b) was undeniable, and (c) demonstrated to those who were paying attention what the "reporter" really represented without saying the word "communist."

Koch was a very, very smart man. I believe both Donald Trump and Senator Cruz are also very smart.

What Churchill said is so true. “If you are not a liberal in your twenties, you have no heart. But if you are not a conservative by your thirties. You have no brain.”

I like your story. That’s the best way to out these folks.

In a way, Cruz at the White House talking to the Code Pink person is the same thing. You let them prattle and then say a few short sentences that reveals what they really advocating for.

Yes! Exactly!

I heard Sen. Cruz's exchange with the Code Pink person on Rush's show, and the way he handled it reminded me very much of that Mayor Koch exchange back thirty years ago.

You're exactly right.

And that's a very effective way to handle them, but it only works if your smart, very smart. You've got to have the confidence to let them talk, and they you've got to answer them in a way that takes away their energy and disarms them. That's what Mayor Koch does, and that's what Senator Cruz did with Medea Benjamin.

Trump is very good and very smart, but he doesn't have that kind of finesse, I'm bound to say.

Okay, let's say we agree on that. Wouldn't you agree that a guy who lets the media (whore) have their full say, has an almost impossible task to win a debate in a short TV segment?

They ask a question that is designed so that there is no possible way to answer it, and then you've got two or three minutes of back-peddle.

Trump is bash enough to simple interrupt them and rip them to shreds for their tactics.

I don't think you win unless you can do that on occasion. Cruz seem too nice to be able to get away with that.

It's one thing to try it, but the public has to react by going, "yeah!". With some people they do, and with others they just wince.

It just occurred to me that what Koch did in the exchange I recalled was right out of the Saul Alinsky manual!

Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.

He didn't have to "pick the target" in that case because the target picked him.

But notice how he froze the other party, personalized it, and polarized it.

He froze it by answering in a way that put them off their guard, by not accepting their premise and by forcing them to think for a second to figure out how to respond.

He personalized it in both remarks. By saying "people who think that believe there should be no private property" he took it out of the realm of ideological labels and brought it down to people, and the way people think.

His last statement, about "we're not going to turn the economy upside down so you can walk to work" both personalized it and polarized it. He personalized it by directing his remark at "you," by making it into "you want more low-income housing to help you." He polarized it by pointing out how silly the person sounded when their goals were stated in that way.

This just occurred to me, after all those years.

No, I agree with you. I was just making an editorial remark about the finesse thing. I'm not for one minute asserting that Trump isn't effective, that he doesn't know what he's doing, or that he won't prevail (although I'm not convinced he really wants to prevail in the sense of being elected President, but I admit he sure seems like he does).

The points you are making are good ones.

Look, Trump is a public figure nationally, but long before he became a national figure he was a public figure in New York City, which is one of the most intense media hotbeds in the world. Ever since he fixed the Wollman Skating Rink in Central Park back in the '80s (which had been unusable for something like 20 years) he has demonstrated over and over that he knows how to handle the media, that he's a master of the game.

No argument from me.

Leftists will often full well acknowledge the government is becoming more and more intrusive and in many cases vindictive.

Starting there and noting they love to field your questions...ask along these lines:

Do you think you and your family will have security, even benefit, if your compliant? (Yes)

I mean, if you can maintain the reputation, right? (Yes)

Inuendo being as provocative as it is, do you really think others, say more oppressed, will let you maintain that reputation? (They’ll be puzzled even disturbed here...maintain eye contact.)

Finally...

Who will you complain too?

I agree, but the danger is that in another 2 to 3 election cycles, they will be the centrists. America is being pulled left in 4 year increments. Demographics are destin

You know Tom, I don’t think many of us are as prepared as we should be to emulate Koch in that moment.
