This gun control tactic is hard to shoot down (barf alert)

Aside from picking office holders, Nevada voters next year will have the opportunity to help keep guns out of the wrong hands.

Granted, we can’t always identify “the wrong hands” because many crimes are committed in the passion of the moment by first-time gun-wielders who might not fit the profile of a gunman-in-waiting.

But as a society, we at least can try to weed out those people who, on the face of it, shouldn’t be allowed to carry a weapon. It’s an obvious group: felons, domestic abusers and the mentally ill who have been identified by the state as having been committed involuntarily to a mental health institution or deemed a danger to themselves or others.

As it stands now, someone in Nevada can buy a weapon from a private party and not register it or be checked against a federal database of criminals maintained by the FBI.

So many Californians have fled to Nevada, this will probably pass.

Having seen the signature gathering going on, it probably will. It was presented to the ignorant as THE answer to crime and domestic violence, and by passing, all of that would come to an end forever. So, having been sold as that, they obtained more than twice the number required to put it on the ‘16 ballot and if passed will be law on 1/1/2017. Even the gannett associated reno gazette journal editors opposed it so that should tell you it ain’t a good “initiative”. But, like you said, it’ll most likely pass and in the end, crime and domestic abuse will continue as usual. Law abiding citizens, more infringements.

As it stands now that applies to every State in the Union, every city every town every village. Those people are called criminals and they buy and sell guns no matter what the laws say............

Something to consider.

With another officer, I can do a complete background check on a police officer candidate in one eight hour day. That includes complete driver and court history, credit history, tsx history, interviews with employers, neighbors, references, home inspection, all of it.

If they are going to push and demand the background check, it can be done very quickly, and let no one tell you otherwise.
