Brendan Bordelon has a piece up on the home page on Scott Walker taking a pass on commenting on Trump on grounds that he doesnt want to discuss other candidates, which strikes me as entirely reasonable.
The conventional wisdom demands that Republicans devote themselves to denouncing Trump, but candidates are foolish to do this unless it serves some other purpose.
Jeb has criticized him repeatedly, even after he said he was done with it. I dont know why he really needs to get drawn into a war of words with Trump, but at least this accords with Jebs orientation toward the general election and emphasis on winning more Latino voters.
Rick Perry has been arguing with Trump, too. This probably makes sense, given that the former Texas governor is on the verge of inclusion in the first debate and needs all the oxygen he can get it, as Allahpundit points out.
Finally, there is the other side of the ledger. Ted Cruz has made himself the foremost Trump ally in the field, a completely blatant play for the Trump voters that Cruz needs to inherit if he is going to have any hope of consolidating the right.
All of this is to say, if Walker doesnt have some angle on Trump, hes best served by keeping his counsel.
June 27, 2011: Walker Revokes In-state Tuition For Undocumented Students Attending Univ And Colleges In Wisconsin [ONLY STATE THAT HAS] "- On Sunday, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker (R) signed his two-year 2011-2013 budget, which included ending in-state tuition for undocumented students attending public universities and colleges. In-state tuition for undocumented students was approved two years ago by former Governor Jim Doyle (D) after the Hispanic community struggled for 10 years to pass it."...
March 2015: We strongly dispute this account. Governor Walker has been very clear that he does not support amnesty and believes that border security must be established and the rule of law must be followed. His position has not changed, he does not support citizenship for illegal immigrants, and this story line is false, she announced in an email to journalists Thursday afternoon.
I made it clear that for me, if somebody wants to be a citizen, they need to go back to their country of origin, get in line, no preferential treatment, Walker said. In terms of what to do beyond that, again, thats something we got to work with Congress on.
Trump took 18 percent support in a national Fox News poll released Thursday evening.
Right behind him is Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker with 15 percent.
Walker officially launched his campaign Monday, declaring to supporters, I will fight and win for you.
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush dropped to third place, garnering 14 percent support.
In the previous edition of the Fox News poll, released June 15, Bush led the field with 15 percent, followed by Trump at 11 percent, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson at 10 percent, and Walker and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) tied at 9 percent.
Paul checked in at fourth place in the new survey at 8 percent, followed by Sen. Marco Rubio at 7 percent and Carson at 6 percent.
Following them are Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee at 4 percent, and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at 3 percent.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich and former Sen. Rick Santorum are tied for tenth at 2 percent.
Tenth place is a key spot, as Fox News Aug. 6 debate will be limited to the top ten candidates based on an average of polls. Candidates are pulling out all the stops to climb the polls for a shot at the stage.
Former CEO Carly Fiorina, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Sen. Lindsey Graham, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and former New York Gov. George Pataki all fell outside the top ten in the poll.
The poll surveyed 1,019 registered voters between July 13-15. The margin of error was plus or minus 3 percentage points.
Interesting that Lowry is on a first name basis with Jeb Bush but not with any of the other candidates.
Jeb and Perry criticizing are plusses... just so you know.
On Feb. 23, 2015 Rush Limbaugh mentioned this debate [linked below] between WI Gov. Scott Walker and the Mayor of Milwaukee, WI [who was challenging Walker in a recall election after he "broke" union hold on the state, and during the time John Doe investigations were in full swing].
It's an hour but by watching it ALL you will have a good idea how Scott Walker campaigns, debates and interacts with the media and critics.
Rich Lowry lauds Scott Walker for not wasting time trashing Trump.
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
Maybe Rich noticed that both Bush and Perry have lost ground va Trump, and that just maybe Trump speaks for a lot of people.
The Bush campaign routinely uses the name Jeb rather than Governor Bush. Jeb want to minimize his connections to the 2 former Bush presidencies to avoid the family dynasty label.
So, if the Bush campaign refers to him only as Jeb, then Trump has every right to do so, too.

This is an example. I DO NOT support Jeb for ANYTHING.
I made it clear that for me, if somebody wants to be a citizen, they need to go back to their country of origin, get in line, no preferential treatment, Walker said. In terms of what to do beyond that, again, thats something we got to work with Congress on.
I believe he made that statement on Glenn Beck’s show.
Since then he hasn’t said a word about illegal aliens.
The illegal alien inundation is the burning issue that the GOP wants to ignore and the citizens want addressed.
Trump’s rise is proof of that.
Those who criticize Trump do it for one reason. It’s free air time.
You’re wrong.
Walker’s discussed this every time he’s interviewed.
His candidacy is less than one week.
Not one word in his speech
