He will be looking for votes... make no mistake, the Democrats want votes for incarcerated people.

Yep. Give 'em that and leave everything else just like it is, and you won't hear any more about it.

I once dated a girl who had the cutest little niece (who is probably in college now). The two of us (niece and I) would sit and watch Teletubbies together.

I couldn’t help notice the similarities between the Teletubby set and Well’s “The Time Machine”.

Always sorta hoped the Morlocks would show up and spice up the show a bit...

We need to have a legal organization conduct a mock investigation and trial of 0bama and his regime.

Our current federal “justice system” is completely immoral and corrupt. A mock trial would have more moral standing than anything out of the current federal court system.

As a part of the article 5 convention, there should be a provision concerning the prosecution of illegal and unconstitutional actions by federal officials elected and appointed.

I doubt most students and idiot teens who like smoking joints are particularly violent. Sentencing them to prison is way over the top, and if they are caught doing it three times as in California and getting life sentences there is something seriously wrong with that.

That's not CA law. That's fantasy on your part.

Keep smoking your dope. You're in no danger of going to prison for life.

It’s a shame it is only a visit. Or better yet maybe he is just checking out the accommodations for a later stay.

OK, how about another case, where a man who shoplifted some candy from a gas station and because it was his third conviction, got life in prison? There are many other such examples of people who on a third offence got busted for stealing items amounting to a few dollars being locked up for life.

Now you could argue that it keeps crime figures down, but I guess so would executing everyone who ever commits a criminal offence. I guess summarily executing speeding drivers at the roadside instead of ticketing them would also cut down on reckless driving, but is it really proportionate to the crimes being committed?

I'm sure there are a few mistakes. However, (1) shoplifting a candy bar is not a felony. (2) Third strikers are usually violent. "second and third strikers have been convicted for an average of three prior felony offenses, including an average of two prior serious or violent felonies."

For more facts see http://www.lao.ca.gov/2005/3_strikes/3_strikes_102005.htm

According to your source, petty theft with a prior conviction is a felony, so it was unlikely to be a mistake. I mean, I’m not some bleeding heart liberal who things that criminals ought to be given hugs and kisses instead of punishments, but c’mon. Life in jail for shoplifting just because you’ve got priors? All someone has to do is get busted four times for stealing a can of coke from somewhere and they end up getting a sentence equivalent to that of a violent rapist.

After I read the full title to this thread, I was disappointed. The first five words looked great.

MonCon got a slap on the wrist, as did Kwame the first 2 stints he’s had in prison since he & B Hussein were such up-and-comers back in 2006/2007.

This most recent sentence is 28 yrs for some serious graft / corruption, not the sexting & lying.

Slaps on the wrist will get you nothing in the way of reforming the behavior.
