Rove v. Cruz [Damning Expose on Rove]
Conservative Review ^ | July 14th, 2015 | Jen Kuznicki

Karl Rove, the erstwhile Bushie coordinator of elections, has a starring role in Senator Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) new book, A Time For Truth: Reigniting the Promise of AmericaAnd contrary to his endless efforts to be the center of attention on Fox News, Rove doesn’t seem to dig Cruz’s spotlight.

In 2009, Cruz sought some advice but also received a little donation from the patriarch of the Bush family, former president George H.W. Bush.

Reacting to the news of the donation, Rove told Cruz that he did not believe that the Senior Bush had the capacity to make his own decisions about who to endorse for the Texas State Attorney General race.  When Rove denied Cruz’ assertion, Cruz produced an email exchange that damns Rove’s impotent reaction.  Rove then told the Washington Post that he had no record of that email.

The whole episode is a perfect picture into how Rove views himself, and what he really thinks of others in the Republican Party. To hash this out, one only has to recall the career of the over-hyped bespectacled “tactician” who holds sway with few outside the beltway. To read Karl Rove’s memoir, Courage and Consequence: My Life as a Conservative in the Fight, is to read a persistent insistence that he claims he is a conservative, though long-time Reaganites repeatedly reject this purposeful mischaracterization. It should hearten those conservatives who feel crestfallen in these difficult days, that if conservatism wasn’t the key in winning elections, posers like Rove wouldn’t go to such great lengths to try to be part of the club.  As Reagan biographer Craig Shirley and Reagan alumni, Donald Devine, wrote in the Washington Post,

From William F. Buckley Jr. to Barry Goldwater to Ronald Reagan, the creators of the modern conservative movement always taught that excessive concentration of power in government leads inevitably to corruption and the diminution of personal freedoms.” They add that instead of pursuing the Reagan/Buckley/Goldwater message, Rove takes credit for G.W. Bush’s “enormous expansion of national government.

Also in his book, Rove talks about working for Reagan in Texas in 1980.  In an interview on the “O’Reilly Factor,” Rove reiterated that he indeed was Ronald Reagan’s Director of the Texas Campaign in 1980.

Again, Reagan biographer Shirley checked and found that Rove had lied about that too.

“In 1976, as Chairman of the College Republicans, Rove was for Gerald Ford over Governor Reagan, as was all of the Republican National Committee. “The 1980 Texas campaign for Ronald Reagan was run by Ernie Angelo and the Field Director was Rick Shelby. Gary Hoitsma ran the media for Reagan in Texas in 1980. “In fact, Mr. Rove’s own bio on his website says he was on Governor Clements staff in 1980 and Clements was not on board with Reagan until after Detroit convention.”

Shirley also noted that Rove worked for George H.W. Bush’s campaign in 1980, until he was fired for leaking to the media, and Reagan’s Political Director, CR’s own Jeffrey Lord, pointed out that Rove was nowhere to be found in the volumes of alumni directories.

The Washington Examiner found even more people who soundly reject Rove’s claims.  As a former aide, Tom Pauken knew the players in Texas in 1980, and recalled Rove as, “viewed by the Reaganites as being part of the anti-Reagan faction in our state.”

But that was 35 years ago, and when Rove succeeded in becoming “George W. Bush’s Brain,” barely winning with the washed out “compassionate conservative” strategy in 2000 and 2004, he was at the pinnacle of his mediocre success.  Though known as the “architect,” by actual measure, Rove’s successes as a political mastermind are not only obscure, but more often than not, he is remembered more for being wrong than being right in part as a result of his famous meltdown on Fox News on election day 2012.  In fact, Rove was wrong about Cruz’s ability to win his Senate race that same year by calling him a fool and telling him he had no prayer at all against Dewhurst.

So Rove’s persona is a lie, his political work is a lie, what he wants you to believe about his conservatism is a lie, and it’s becoming a full-time job to refute all the inaccuracies Rove says everyone else is saying about him.

Lord also wrote about the Komen Foundation’s former vice president of public policy who wrote about Rove in her book, and wouldn’t you know it, just like he claims Cruz is lying, he said the same of Karen Handel.  In fact, Jeffrey Lord also showed us in the aftermath of the 2014 race in Mississippi between Cochran and McDaniel that Rove lied about helping fund the runoff for Cochran, and then praised the Cochran camp for getting Democrats to vote for him, when what really happened is that Rove helped fund Cochran’s plan to gin up racial hatred and smear Mississippi’s conservatives.

What Cruz did in this simple, but politically masterful snare, was leave it to the people to discern who is lying and who is telling the truth.

Any level-headed American who can’t stand political operatives can easily see that calling the elder Bush senile for all intents and purposes, would fit with Rove’s arrogant in-charge attitude in the State of Texas when speaking to a conservative who would be challenging his political line-up. What Cruz did in this simple, but politically masterful snare, was leave it to the people to discern who is lying and who is telling the truth. The biggest establishment cheerleader for big government has now been revealed as a back stabber, a pathological liar, and a two-bit political whore.  All because Cruz had the courage to expose the truth, back it up, and let the facts speak for themselves.

Karl Rove, at every level, is a disgusting POS. He needs to be fired from Fox News. Whatever Rove touches, he screws things up. Go away, Rove.

I love Ted Cruz. He didn’t push Humpty Dumpty off the wall. Just pointed out to the world how wobbly he is. Genius.

Eventually Humpty will fall off and crack.

Let’s just hope Karl is in charge of Jeb’s campaign direction.

With any luck Karl will help him as much as he did with his other polished turds in 12.

Rove is living off the success of Ken Mehlman and Matthew Dowd.

Is it true that Rove has a life size poster of Bob Dole on the ceiling over his bed?

The excerpts about Rove were some of my favorites from the book. Cruz, in a gentlemanly way, exposed the slime ball.
