The corn converted into biofuel each year is enough to feed 412 million malnourished people in African and other countries.

The author does not have a clue.

i don’t really know but corn has sugar in it that’s how we used to make moonshine and it is water based.but it worse than rust trying to seprate parts.

Perhaps 10X was exaggerated, but you can bet it was a lot more than I get now

The world has never had so much excess corn, and it sells for close to cost of production.

Very good. Thank you.

As a related topic or issue, since the EPA has now mandated beyond low sulfur diesel to ultra low sulfur, the difficulty with the fuels being way too 'dry' a thus harsh & hell (greatly increased wear) on fuel pumps and injectors, it is my understanding that the soy-based biodiesel (say, B5 grade of #2 diesel) is better, "wetter" (thus better lube qualities) than the B5 based on other vegetable oils.

Finding the right stuff can be tough, but if old (2 year old) info still holds, than the fuels distributed by Petro truckstops (thus TA also?) "bio" 5% component were soy based. compared to Pilot which was not.

I don't recall at the moment which way Loves' went with it. Yet if I was driving truck again, I do think I'd check into it, and if driving for a fleet possibly try to talk maintenance into talking management into either allowing, or else arranging if possible, fueling from the better and wetter soy-based biodiesel blends. Big companies which arrange a form of private market 'futures' deals with the larger corporations (such as Pilot) may look at the cost saving they may receive in form of price reduction/rebate sort of thing for contracted tonnages of fuel...I've not been privy to the close details of those kind of arrangements, but am aware they do exist, so may outweigh any possible gains for stretching out maintenance costs, and reducing down-time for any particular (road) tractor.

Otherwise, if the crux of the matter were to be only a few cents, many times only one or two cents more on top of 300 to 400 cents a gallon (and quite possibly again in the future, even more per gallon) versus how much to --- not only rebuild/replace injection pumps, but to also suffer loss of performance in the meantime as wear begins to take a toll, thus possibly waste fuel until fuel pumps and injector tips are serviced. How it would pencil out in the end, I can't really say...

Yet I'd sooner fuel (and stop) at most any Petro or TA (Truckstops of America) than most any Pilot, although there are exceptions, like the Bossleman Pilot (off I-80, exit 312 iirc) truck stop near Doniphan, and Grand Island, Neb., but not to be confused with the older and smaller one in Grand Island, Neb., more properly.

The one near I-80 is first-rate, as far as truckstops go. Parking is plentiful and good, and the showers are nice. Pretty good store attached. Restaurant is generally ok -- I think there are two, one of them buffet at times. The layout of the facility in general is pleasant and roomy, not cramped like most Pilot truckstops, and has a section of girder from one of the downed World Trade Center towers (#2 was it?) on display inside the main building as a form or memorial.

To continue to drift a bit further off-topic;
Jubitz in Portland on Fri and Sat has music in the restaurant/bar. That place, and the TA at Troutdale Oregon on I-84 are two of the only places I can think of that dare sell a beer to a truck driver. After a couple of months or so on the road, a cold beer (or two or three) while taking a 10, is kinda' nice, let me tell you...

Then go sleep for 8 hours or so, of course, before driving, and it's all good.

That’s all you got big time? I guess you’re a subsidized farmer who doesn’t want the gravy train to end.
