Sen Diane Feinstein, Hillary Clinton Try to Save Face After Protecting/Supporting Sanctuary Cities

After years of protecting and supporting sanctuary cities across the country, which allow illegal aliens to evade federal immigration laws, Senator Diane Feinstein and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton are trying to save face in light of the killing of 32-year-old Kate Steinle by illegal alien Francisco Sanchez in San Francisco last week. Sanchez admitted in a jailhouse interview that he went to San Francisco after being deported five times because he knew he wouldn't be turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

“I strongly believe that an undocumented individual, convicted of multiple felonies and with a detainer request from ICE, should not have been released,” Ms. Feinstein said according to the Washington Times. “We should focus on deporting convicted criminals, not setting them loose on our streets. As a member of the Judiciary Committee, I am looking at whether additional federal legislation may be necessary.”

Feinstein may be condemning sanctuary city polices that protect violent felons now, but back in 2013 she offered an amendment to the Gang of 8 legislation that protected cities like San Francisco from federal crack downs and emboldened local law enforcement to keep federal immigration agents out of jails. In other words, her amendment allowed sanctuary cities to continue their harboring of illegal aliens and evasion of federal law.

"The city made a mistake, not to deport someone that the federal government strongly felt should be deported," Clinton said during an interview with CNN. "So I have absolutely no support for a city that ignores the strong evidence that should be acted on."

In 2007 during her first presidential run, Clinton defended sanctuary cities and claimed they keep all citizens safe. Via Breitbart:

“If local law enforcement begins to act like immigration officers what that means is that you will have people not reporting crimes. You will have people hiding from the police. And I think that is a real direct threat to the personal safety and security of all the citizens. So this is a result of the failure of the federal government and that’s where it needs to be fixed.”

These are the consequences of liberal utopia, open border, free immigration for all policies. While Feinstein and Clinton claim sanctuary cities were never intended to protect violent felons like Francisco Sanchez, they fail to acknowledge that their allowance of law breaking by all illegal immigrants leads to tragedy.

I find this bizarre.
Crimes by illegal aliens have been going on for years, and our Government has sloughed it off, and ignored it. Back in 2009 a mother/wife in San Francisco had her entire family wiped out (husband and two sons) because apparently some illegal alien gangster didn't like the fact that they honked at him, or something. Hardly a peep from the Media or the Government (including the criminal coddling DA Camilla Harris).

Now, some attractive white blond in San Francisco gets murdered and the rats are all running for cover. The San Francisco Police and Supervisors are pointing at ICE, and ICE is pointing at them (its the SF Supervisors and Police Chief's fault, by the way).

I don't want to besmirch this lady, or her family (from the interviews they seem like great people. Not seeking vengeance, but justice), but where was the outrage when less attractive people were getting murdered? If you don't make the 'A-List' for looks, you are just chaff to be discarded?

I'm glad this 'Sanctuary City' nonsense (and treachery) is getting exposed and publicized - but this should have happened long ago.

What is needed is for existing laws to be enforced and fraudulently documented foreigners deported according to those laws.

I think, to answer my own question, the optics are that this lady rings a chord with the ‘Soccer Moms’ (a large supportive wing for the Demonrat party) as they see - ‘this could have been them’ - thus the rats and roaches in the Government ranks are running for cover and blaming others.

This is all because of one line spoken by Trump in his announcement speech. He brought attention to it and the flare-up caught this tragic murder and brought the entire nations attention. Now the Dems are running for cover.

You are probably correct. I had forgotten that Trump had highlighted this murder (while he was pushing back on criticism of his remarks about illegal aliens) - and that is why it is getting the well deserved attention. It just seemed odd to me, at first, given the load of previous crimes committed by illegal aliens - but the timing makes sense. People were ripping Trump about his 'untactful' remarks, and then he turned the tables on them by highlighting this reality. Now the Media and Politicians are all hemming and hawing.
