Is the World Becoming Fed Up?

Faster, please: A great pushback is awakening here and abroad, but its timing, nature, and future remain mysterious.

Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow…

Given European socialism, and given its therapeutic culture that assumes morality is relative and situational, it is quite stunning — especially to the Greeks — that suddenly debts are to mean not endless negotiations, haggling, blame-gaming, and contextualization, but are reduced to something akin to Calvin Coolidge’s snarky alleged quote, “They hired the money, didn’t they?”

Aside from the threats of Vladimir Putin and the wobbling of the European Union, Europe is being overrun with illegal immigrants from Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Once an impoverished foreign national arrives at any European shore, the European Union, either out of utopian piety or colonial guilt, feels obligated to accept him, without questioning much his legal status or the reasons for his arrival — much less why it should not extend such magnanimity to tens of millions of others who may well follow.

But the cash-strapped leftwing European public, outside its privileged elite, is slowly tiring of illegal immigration as well. Apparently it has concluded that tens of millions of illegal migrants neither assimilate quickly nor are much thankful to their hosts for their sanctuary status — and that hundreds of millions more would come if they could to enjoy the European welfare state. An aging and shrinking European socialism accepts that its own redistributionist entitlements are not sustainable. But it also assumes that those arriving from the former Third World have neither the interest nor the skills to join the labor force to subsidize their hosts’ own generous retirement packages.

Something that can’t go on forever, won’t. Greece is just the harbinger.

By the way, the immigration problem is in fact a welfare state problem.

Get rid of the welfare state — for all of us — and the immigration problem will largely disappear.

Immigrants would be a GOOD thing if they came with skills and did not suck resources. But then, legal Americans also suck resources.

“Get rid of the welfare state — for all of us...”

There’s the problem. We can’t even get conservatives to agree with getting rid of the welfare that they enjoy the benefits of, so forget about this ever happening voluntarily. We’ll just have to wait for the collapse, and hope that people don’t make the same mistake next time.

They will make the same mistake next time.

See Kipling’s “Gods of the Copybook Headings”.

Um....excuse me?

There is no pushback ANYWHERE.

That’s what so amazing to behold.

NO ONE is stopping anything going on.

In fact, the people who criticize anything going on are the ones who end up being shouted down (see Trump).

We are many years away from the tide turning. Conservatism is reborn in the face of shortage of necessities, and lack of comforts.

The left controls the schools and the media. That is power we could only dream of having.

Dinosaur media?! Hmmmmmpf, that dinosaur kicked our butts.

Are you sure about that?

Greece and Donald Trump is just the start. It is happening.

Immigrants would be a GOOD thing if they came with skills and did not suck resources.

We have enough skilled people. If we didn't salaries for technical people would be going up. They're not.

You cant’ get rid of the welfare state if you don’t close the borders and get rid of Free Trade and off shoring. Import tariffs are at all time lows which is bad for everyone. You can’t pull the wealth creation rug out of the lower classes and expect them to just die off.

No, but maybe the conservatives are hiding in the high grass right now ready to pounce.

Um....

Greece wants MORE socialism.
Their PM is an ex-Communist!
He used Occupy Wall Street rhetoric to get elected.

Donald Trump? The guy who used eminent domain to throw some old lady out of her house so he could build a parking garage for his casino?

That guy?

Trump is an opportunist. He’s taking advantage of a golden chance since other politicians (stupidly) won’t.

The fact that he’s the frontrunner shows just how awful everything truly is.
