What citizens can do to resist the ruling class’s redefinitions of moral and cultural norms
National Review ^ | 7/4/15 | ANGELO M. CODEVILLA

Posted on 07/05/2015 3:52:38 PM PDT by LibWhacker

“To learn who rules over you, find out whom you are not allowed to criticize.” — Voltaire

If you’re wondering what Americans can do as our ruling class sets about enforcing its redefinition of marriage, start by looking back at what it did to the citizens of Indiana when their legislature raised the possibility that someone might object to joining in celebrations of homosexual marriage.

Support for homosexual unions was incidental to the insistence of the likeminded folks atop society’s commanding heights on punishing Indiana. What incurs their ire has less to do with any substantive matter than with the American people’s resistance to honoring their fantasies. These fantasies can be reversed without notice. (Obama opposed homosexual marriage until 2013.) But dissenting from any of them — whether about race, or sex, or science, or anything else — risks ostracism and disqualification from earning a living.

Indiana’s Republicans, its churches, and conservatives in general pled for the liberty to speak and act according to religious faith. They did not and do not argue the worth of the Judeo-Christian religious beliefs that the ruling class deems odious. This has proved to be self-defeating. Appeals for tolerance of all beliefs in the name of America’s traditional freedoms fail because they concede the ruling class’s assertion of its own moral-intellectual superiority, as well as its underlying assumption that good and evil, better and worse, are just other words for its own likes and dislikes.

The ruling class’s component groups jointly dismiss America’s traditional liberties because they aim to replace them with their own primacy. Having seized the power to redefine liberty, our rulers tighten their definitions around their opponents’ necks like nooses. Since their desire for primacy has no limit, they can’t stop tightening.

We can give them Our Refusal.

And after that, we can give them something else.

Naive. Requires that you love the truth and hate the lie. You don't even know which lies you love. They are integrated into your rationalization superstructure. (You'd argue if I even stated your lie-love's name.) "We have met the enemy, and he is us." - Pogo

WHY I HAVE AN ILLUMINATED CROSS AS A PROTEST

When are those so called democrats who are really “democratic” in name only and belong to a political party which espouses one perfect world socialist state ever going to be called out on their core beliefs ? Nooo that wouldn’t be bi-partisan !

Ask any of those so called GOPES (Government Over the People Elite Statists) campaign advisors about depressing the “democrat” vote and you get a lecture.Democrat core beliefs showed up with booing the mention of God in 2012 which made it official. They’ve declared a war on religion because it opposes their agenda particularly Christianity.Which I for one now have an illumiuated crucifix at night in my front yard facing the street (Highway) as a statement. And encourage others do as well

A DEMOCRAT apparently doesn’t believe there’s such a thing as the Ten Commandments or sin because everything that leaves their mouths is a lie. But I have yet to hear a Republican candidate even suggest even in jest mention why “democrat” lying is part of their core belief ? Never mind the use of their positions promoting crony capitalism campaign contributers who took our money to finance alternate energy plans spending billions that went belly up at our expense while leaving our infastructure to fall apart......

Why ? Because it isn’t being bi-partisan or lets not forget the other trap being politically correct.. Which is nothing more than a perverted effort to silence opposition to a socialist agenda

Voltaire was familiar with a system of government abuse that would have shocked most Americans by comparison... until recently. In America, you might have gotten criticized for complaining about your rulers but you wouldn’t have gotten the powers of hell raining down on your hapless head in retaliation. Until recently, with the “gay craze.”

Law no longer protects you.

As evidenced by Scotus just ten days ago, the Supreme Law of the Land is no more.

Speak truth to power, basically.

Don’t let them wash your brain.

“Consequently, if we wish to remain who we are in the face of threats and declamations meant to force us to honor intellectual and moral falsehoods, we have no alternative but clearly and loudly to distinguish between true and false, fully making the case for what we believe to be right. There is no viable alternative to confronting the ruling class’s fantasies and euphemisms substantively, in detail.”

Codevilla addresses the reality we now exist in: we are ruled by a Beast - and we must have his mark if we are to make a living and exist in this land.

There is nothing we can do in such a tyranny except either submit and adapt as our own, the demands of our overlords - or resist.

Since those ruling us will continue to demonize anyone who does not submit - reasoning with the unreasonable is not an option.

We simply must refuse.

We must resist.

This will drive them nuts and reveal their true intentions for us, upon which we will all discover that Patrick Henry’s exclamation was not a marketing slogan - but a choice we will all have to make.

Gullibility and weak, easily manipulated morals got into a perfect storm with one of the most stubborn warped lusts known to mankind.

“Ain’t it OBVIOUS that this stuff has a right to even have a word redefined in its behalf?”

We should, however, remember that this is a battle going on at a level that we cannot see.

Disembodied demon spirits are at war with God, and humanity is in the position of having made the wrong choice in that war.

It’s easy enough to get furious with the homos, but they are but demon-ridden pawns in this sick game. If we could wave a magic wand and make homos vanish from the scene, without changing anything else, we might have only made it slightly harder for the devil to launch another assault.

Is it the “ruling class” that is supporting the filthy and disgusting “gays” and all those unnecessary and evil wars, and that is dissing the Confederate battle flag?

If so, it’s much too filthy, low-life, and degenerate to be a real ruling class. Even I, who am hardly a “one percenter”, am more aristocratic than they are!!!!

Phooey, phooey, and phooey again!!!!

Actually, filthy, low life, and degenerate was a common state of ruling classes throughout history. Their posts would spoil them.

I like Codavilla, but like most academics, he seems to feel compelled to use a whole lot of words to make his point, so many that often any real point gets lost in the multitude of words.

Anyway, I read the whole piece, and found lots of insightful gems throughout. I don’t agree with his praise for certain “conservative” organizations. He thinks they’re good, apparently. I think they’re among the biggest obstacles to saving the country, because of their lack of depth of understanding and constant compromise with corrupt, unprincipled Republican politicians.
