Why it’s Republicans, not Democrats, who really offer African-Americans hope for a better life
Fox News.com ^ | July 2, 2015 | Gov. Rick Perry

Posted on 07/02/2015 11:39:04 AM PDT by Kaslin

Fifty years ago, Republicans and Democrats came together to enshrine in law the principle that all of us, regardless of race, color, or national origin, are created equal. Because of that, today America is a better, more tolerant and more welcoming place than it has ever been.

So why is it that so many black families still feel left behind? A quarter of African-Americans live below the poverty line, even with federal programs like food stamps and housing subsidies, and the supplemental poverty rate for African-Americans is nearly double the rate for other Americans.

Democrats have long had the opportunity to govern in African-American communities. But the Democrats’ solutions amount to little more than throwing money at the problem and walking away. And in cities where left-wing solutions have been tried over and over again – like Detroit, Chicago, Baltimore and Oakland – blacks are moving out to places like Dallas and Houston.

The fact is, it’s Republicans – not Democrats – who are truly offering black Americans the hope of a better life for themselves and their children.

There are so many worthy republican candidates, I had almost forgotten about Rick Perry. Both he and Gov. Jindal are looking for ways to stand out from the crowd.

Governer Perry found a way to stand out.

It involved Gardasil. LINK

I'll never vote for him.

Agreed, both are very good men. Two of their top qualifications, they are not crooked lawyers from the Northeast, and they are not DC establishment republicans.

I get the drift of the thread, but not sure I’d count on Republicans these days. They look a lot like Democrats to me.

Republicans AND Democrats are trying to destroy black people.

One with jobs

the other with culture

On paper, yes, but in practice the GOP is no better.

Really a shame as the GOP has a fantastic platform. Too bad it’s just words.

CORRECTION.......Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act:

Says we cannot discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (male or female), or national origin.

FOX left one VERY IMPORTANT civil right out of their story! RELIGION .... why?

Your mind and mine work alike in some ways.

I saw this thread and immediately had the same reaction you did.

Who is the Republican party trying to kid here?

Low income jobs, one of the few bright spots for Blacks, have now become the nesting ground of illegal immigrants.

The Republicans have made it their job to ensure the illegal alien never has to fear being sent back to their nation of origin. This is evil, and it’s evil perpetrated on the backs of Blacks in our nation.

As for the Democrats, the party that spouts unending love for Blacks every time they can game a racial issue at maximum cost to Blacks, they have chosen the illegal alien over Blacks. And please, don’t tell Blacks.

As you state, culturally the Democrats have supported give-away programs for Blacks that let women live without men easily. Why get married, when Uncle Sam will slip with you and pay you to do it?

Both parties should be ashamed of themselves, because Blacks are harmed by them both.

This isn’t a Civil War or Dixie Flag issue. It won’t be top of the news, because if it was, in five to ten years Blacks would be 500% better off than they are today.

The Democrats, the Republicans, and the Nation’s media have nothing to gain from that.

As a brother to these people in spirit, I do. I would gain immeasurably to see the plight of the Black families in the United States have better futures.

Paying Black teen-age girls to have babies out of wedlock.

Having separate, lower standards and expectations for Blacks in pretty much everything.

Mocking Black educational attainment as “acting White.”

I could go on.

There are many candidates, only a few are “worthy” imo, not including anyone named Rick.
