Watching my dad fight the VA since the 60’s, he retired in 1963, the VA’s claim in those days was all of your records were destroyed in the fire at the St. Louis record center. He passed in 1991 and they were still using that excuse. But with new vets entering the service in the 90’s dont they have digital records to access these records to support the new claims?

Although I didn’t serve, I advised my daughter who served 4 1/2 in the Marines, to make sure everything was documented and to get a copy of her records based upon my dad’s experience.

I'd gone to the VA 4 times prior to January 2015, and each time I went I also provided a copy of my DD214:

• 1970 - GI Bill
• 1972 - VA mortgage
• 1981 - Agent Orange physical
• 2000 - Hepatitis A test

I went again in April of this year and they had no copy of my 214 - so I mailed them one when I got home.
I had to return in June for a hearing test and guess what - no 214 on file.
I raised a little hell and lo and behold they discovered it in a manilla folder on someone's desk. Digital you ask? LOL ...
P.S. They also had me in the wrong Priority Group.

Yes, moved to Texas and we have such an office here in my county. Excellent. Simply excellent.

However, El Paso County is a disaster. The El Paso office is unresponsive and rude.
