Jeb Bush and His Friends Have Spent a Lot of Time Explaining His Bad Business Deals
NY Magazine ^ | 6/29/15 | Jaime Fuller

The Washington Post has a story today about 2016 presidential candidate Jeb Bush's unfortunate habit of getting involved in business deals destined to crumble and make him look bad. The problem is widespread enough that his career is littered with a graveyard of hilariously halfhearted explanations for his mistakes from friends, staffers, and Bush himself.

In 1998 — shortly before he became governor of Florida, Bush told the St. Petersburg Times, according to the Post, “I’m 45 years old. I have to have better radar.” Bush's running mate in his failed gubernatorial bid in 1994, Tom Feeney, argued that the problem wasn't Bush, only the people he did business with. "The only documented allegations come down to the fact that he did business with people that later turned out to be deadbeats and crooks."

Remember, the Bushes and the Clintons are dear friends. Poppy Bush considers Bill to be his adopted son. Here’s an example of how tight the two families are. It’s from “Clinton Cash” by Peter Schweizer. Bill Clinton was put in charge of the Interim Haitian Relief Committee which oversaw all of the donations to Haiti after the devastating earthquake. (Lawyers in Haiti are now demanding that the Committee’s finances during Clinton’s tenure be audited.)

Millions of taxpayer dollars and donations were filtered through Clinton. Haiti relief became an enormous honey pot for his friends and business associates. One such was a Innovida, a manufacturer of building materials in south Florida. They got a $10 million loan to build 500 houses in Haiti even though they had no previous experience building houses. Their CEO was Claudio Osorio, a big fundraiser for Hillary’s 2008 campaign. On the board of directors of Innovida sat old Clinton pal, Wesley Clark. Also, JEB BUSH. The houses never got built. Osorio was tried and convicted of financial fraud. He used the money to repay investors and for his and his co-conspirators personal benefit. Innovida collapsed. Clinton’s pal and Hillary’s backer, Osorio, spent 12 years in jail.

This is an example of Jeb’s questionable business dealings and his and his family’s cozy relationship with Bill Clinton. Schweizer has suggested there will be more revelations about Jeb—perhaps in another soon-to-be-published book? Republicans shouldn’t touch this Bush with a ten-foot pole.
