Apple is purging its App Store of mobile games featuring the Confederate flag, a new report says.
The technology giant is discontinuing apps that feature the controversial symbol, according to the New York Daily News.
It said on Thursday that multiple strategy games, such as “Civil War: 1862,” “Civil War: 1863,” “Civil War: 1864” and “Civil War: Gettysburg” are thus no longer available in the popular marketplace.
Those titles were targeted, despite featuring the historical emblem in context of the Civil War, it added.
Andrew Mulholland, creator of the “Civil War” franchise, told Kotaku on Thursday afternoon he is shocked by the move.
“It seems disappointing that they would remove it as they weren’t being used in an offensive way, being that they were historical war games and hence it was the flag used at the time,” he said of the Confederate flag’s appearance in his games.
“At the moment we’re working on the games to replace the flags that are deemed offensive,” he added.
Mulholland said the franchise is replacing the banner used in the game with the Confederate flag used in 1861 and 1862. The Confederate battle flag that some find offensive, he said, was not introduced until late 1862.
The New York Daily News also said a “Dukes of Hazzard” game remains untouched in Apple’s App Store.
That app features the title characters’ car — an automobile called the General Lee — with the Confederate flag on its roof.
Warner Bros. announced on Tuesday that it is no longer sanctioning merchandise for the popular 1980s TV series that sports the controversial symbol.
Multiple corporations have stopped displaying the Confederate flag on their products amid national outcry over the emblem following last week's mass shooting in Charleston, S.C.
Dylann Storm Roof, the alleged gunman, had the Confederate flag printed on his car’s license plate.
Nine people died during the attack on Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church last on June 17. Roof is accused of uttering racial epithets before opening fire on congregants at a Bible study that evening.
No surprise all the left wing companies are now doing this, and yes Sam Walmart would e turning in his grave right now .
Are they going to ban all of the Civil War enactments too? Enactments are big around my area.

The Civil War game franchise has a suit against Apple right there.
"We have removed apps from the App Store that use the Confederate flag in offensive or mean-spirited ways, which is in violation of our guidelines. We are not removing apps that display the Confederate flag for educational or historical uses."

Apple is also pulling the Apple watch that had a Confederate flag on the dial. And this was a best seller here and in Korea!

I commented on this in another thread but it looks like if I want a Civil War simulation, I’ll have to go to David Ahl’s book of BASIC Computer Games and type in the game in BASIC. It was written in 1968 and I might do it on my old Apple //e.

Not a single one of the suicides occurred at a factory making Apple products, not one. The factory where some of the 18 suicides in which occurred 18 months among FoxConn's 750,000 employees worked were making Microsoft Xboxes, Sony Playstations, Nokia phones, and HP Computers. They were not making iPhones, iPads, iPods, or any other Apple products.
The rate of suicides among FoxConn employees is one-half of the rate of suicides among similar aged young people going to American Ivy League Universities. It is far lower than the rate in the Chinese population in general and 1/4 the rate of similar age Chines youth. Your point is worthless. Since that spate of suicides, the rate of suicides in FoxConn has dropped to near ZERO in a company with over 1.3 million employees! I doubt you could find another company in the world with a record anywhere close to FoxConn's.
The workers making Apple products are paid seven times the prevailing Chinese minimum wage. If those workers were in the United States working for the equivalent ratio of the minimum wage, they'd be earning $52 per hour. If you want to claim the workers are slaves, your point there would be worthless also. . . because they are very well paid in their economy.

I am aware of Ultimate General, Gettysburg. They are petitioning Apple for restoration of the game on the educational grounds. Looks as if Apple used a meat cleaver when a scalpel should have been used. i suspect it will be restored.
So what’s the reason for the suicides? I didn’t put a question mark on the last sentence, a typo on my part. So why are these people jumping?
