Fox News, which is said to have supported Beckel for years as he dealt with multiple addiction issues, has released a statement on the liberal host’s departure. According to Bill Shine, Executive Director of Programming, in a statement emailed to IJReview:
“We tried to work with Bob for months, but we couldn’t hold The Five hostage to one man’s personal issues. He took tremendous advantage of our generosity, empathy and goodwill and we simply came to the end of the road with him. Juan Williams and Geraldo Rivera will be among those rotating on the show for the near future.”
With Beckel’s departure, the search begins for a full-time replacement.

Beckel had to go because he’s a Prog who actually recognizes that a muslim jihadist is a bigger threat than a Confederate flag.
So that Bob Beckel served Fox News well for many years does not matter? Pretty nasty dismissal from Fox. I never see media people fired with this kind of language. Maybe Marie Harf wrote it.
My pick?
Rosie O’Donnell, whose bad behavior is legendary, has never gotten this kind of treatment. I guess they didn’t like his snide comments on muslims and the chicoms. Anyway, I dislike The 5 (not funny, Greg!) and Fox in general.
Beckel is a bloated, bloviating slob.
I run for the dial every time I hear his voice.

Why is in incumbent on Fox to have a token clueless liberal idiot in the mix.
Liberals aren’t watching and informed people just get irritated and turn the channel when they speak.

He was fun in that bar room way - a fat man who drank beer, ate pizza and shot the breeze. Now we get the awful politically-correct Jerry Rivers or the hysterical Juan Williams.

Geez, the most unfunny man on tv. He should be on MSNBC he’s so unfunny. He’s up there with Joe Scarborough unfunny.
Since when did news presenters become funny men?
I actually thought he was pretty good and added depth to that program.
The Five used to joke (nicely) about the tons of lights and other Christmas decorations Bob Beckel would put up.

Too Bad. I really liked Bob. We disagreed on most things but he was fun on the show and held his own against the 4 kids even while being wrong most of the time. Juan is a really nice guy but Bob had the fire, you know, when he was awake.
I don’t have any particular fondness for Bob Beckel and I haven’t watched Fox since 2006, but I don’t think they need to be airing his personal problems. Thought there were laws against that.
