The narrative will change and quiet down over the next several daysafter his “true” affiliations come out, just like all the others.....bet on it. *
A similar thing happened about 25 years ago when Badlands, a notorious gay bay in the West Village was shot up. about 12 people were injured miraculously no one was killed. As expected, cries of gay hatred, homophobia, etc started, and things really got crazy when it was revealed that the suspect was the son of a preacher. And not just any preacher's son, but his father was an NYPD Chaplain. Within 48 hours the Daily News and NY Post plastered a mug shot of the suspect on their front pages, and wouldn't ya know it, if 0 had a son.... Suddenly, nothing to see here.....never mind.....

Just perhaps, the father hoped his troubled son would do something self-inflicted with his birthday present.

I’ll bet he ends up facing federal charges.

Probably not. For several reasons --

1. To obtain a federal hate crime conviction, the prosecution must prove that the crime was "in or affected interstate commerce"

2. The federal hate crime statute does not provide for the death penalty.

3. South Carolina doesn't have a hate crime statute...but does honor the death penalty for the crime of murder.

I was not talking about hate crime charges.

What would you try him on, then?

Murder is not a federal crime -- unless it's committed on federal property.

I would not try him on any federal charges. I would convict him SC, sentence him to death and then kill him.

However, I think the Feds may charge him with civil rights violations and possibly terrorism (depending upon how political it becomes).

They're free to do it, of course, but a civil rights or hate crime trial after South Carolina has tried and convicted his sorry ass and sent him to death row seems a tad redundant.

And that extra 'n' in their spelling of Dylann.

Was that Robert Zimmerman of Hibbing, MN saying "Yo Roof! Stop messin' with my pseudonym!"?

ff

P.S. I should've thought of that when this was breaking... :/

Lol, but nobody has explained that extra "n" yet. I wondered if it came from a particular ethnic background in Europe, or maybe the family just wanted to be different.
