Agency: Staff cuts take toll on IRS tax enforcement efforts

Budget cuts to the IRS are hampering the agency’s efforts to uncover tax cheats, an agency watchdog said Wednesday, and more trims are on the way under legislation approved by a GOP-controlled House panel.

IRS budget cuts are hurting tax collections because there are fewer agents chasing delinquent taxpayers, according to a report released Wednesday by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration. The IRS budget has been cut by $1.2 billion since 2010.

The House Appropriations Committee approved IRS cuts of $900 million more on Wednesday on a party-line vote.

Republicans controlling Congress have targeted the much-maligned agency, particularly in the wake of revelations that IRS agents inappropriately singled out tea party groups for additional scrutiny when they sought tax-exempt status. …

The AP journ0lists’ teeth must be grinding, repeating “controlled/controlling” with respect to the GOP here, and having been silent when the Democrats “controlled” the whole ball of wax and encouraged this Soviet criminal activity by the IRS.

Yet, the IRS employees still manage to find time to watch hours of internet porno.

The poor IRS cant do it’s job now. But it had time to hassle Tea Party groups.

I wonder how much work would be seen being done if there were cameras in these offices.

They could start by firing the IRS employees who haven’t paid their own taxes. Just sayin’.

When they cut its budget by half, then I’ll know they’re serious

Just eliminate the entire IRS and install a Fair Tax percentage that will fund the limited needs of the Fedgov. Since we pay tax on Social Security which is our own money with held, so should the Welfare queens pay tax.

It would also eliminate the Earned Income Tax Credit for those who don't pay taxes. That is the most unfair part of the IRS code. How dare those not paying into the system get a check for nothing, just because someone pulls a figure out of their rear to say what poverty is.

No response from IRS for delay.

They probably lost your refund on their 'hard drive'.

Everyone knows that means that it can't be recovered, so you are screwed.

The IRS is an anachronistic reminder of the idiocy that reigned in this country due to Woodrow Wilson’s administration. Far worse was......Jekyll Island; the formation of the Federal Reserve. Damn Wilson to hell for the damage he wrought upon this once great nation.

Maybe if they stopped harassing Tea Party members and went after cheats like Sharpton and Clinton?

Pray America is waking

“Its over 4 months and I am still waiting for my tax refund. “

Solution: Always owe them money at the end of the year. The IRS isn’t a bank.

But just think, Wilson’s record has been trumped by Obola. Carter’s too!

I bet that is their reason why they cannot find Al Sharpton. It is because of those darn cuts in the IRS budget. I imaging it is the same reason they cannot turn over the Lerner emails.

they could just raid their own pension fund.

like the government raided the social security lockbox.

what is good for taxpayers is good for the tax collectors too. maybe even better!

Hint:
Look inwardly to find the biggest tax chats on the planet. Start combing through politician’s income tax returns and check their bank account balances and you’ll gind that things just din’t add up. You’ll have more than you can handle. I mean after all these guys aren’t supposed to make over $170kish a year, right? And for some reason they live in lavish mansions, drive the fanciest cars, spend money on nannies and wait staff in their homes, send their kids to prestigious private schools and universities, go on vacations to exotic lands, and play golf all the time, right? Except for Ms. Clinton, she’s broke ya know

Under the Kenyan dictator the IRS is nothing but a criminal organisation akin to the mafia, which Obama has used to terrorize, intimidate and attempt to CRUSH every single significant individual or organization that has dared to criticize or oppose the Kenyan narcissist, including Dr Benjamin Carson and every single big contributor to the Romney campaign. The earlier the corrupt IRS is abolished, the better for this country. Meanwhile we need to keep cutting their budget to the bone. After all, they kept giving each other huge bonuses even after the IRS scandal came out.
