Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg Donates $5M to Send Undocumented Students to US Colleges

The Facebook CEO and his wife, Priscilla Chan, gave the money to the “I’m In” campaign launched by TheDream.us, a national scholarship fund for undocumented immigrants.

The fund targets students who came to the U.S. as children and received Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival status, an immigration policy started by President Obama that gives them exemption from deportation and allows them to work.

Zuckerberg wrote on his Facebook page that he sees the fund’s efforts as an important step in educating marginalized youth in America.

“America was founded as a nation of immigrants,” he says. “We ought to welcome smart and hardworking young people from every nation, and to help everyone in our society achieve their full potential.”

“We ought to welcome smart and hardworking young people from every nation..."

Mexico and Central America are sending us their dregs. They aren't smart and they aren't hard-working.

Meanwhile, smart and hard-working young people from Eastern Europe can't get visas to come here.

If I was Zuckerberg, I’d be laughing and pissing in everyone’s face too.

Great day to be a liberal douche bag and no one’s doing so much as lifting a finger to stop them. :)

He is so geographist. There are other non Americans all over the world, wishing to go to our universities. Why only choose the lucky ones who can crawl across our borders? What about the folks in Ghana or Afghanistan or Greece who are blocked by oceans?

Exactly. With this kind of onslaught, how in the world can we prevail. A world gone mad.

When you’ve got so much that $5 million is nothing, you can easily contribute. But what about the common man who will be forced to subsidize immigrants via taxes, see jobs lost, often see immigrants receiving more benefits than he receives and enjoying a better standard of living without working or contributing to public support? And isn’t this the billionaire that fled America to avoid taxes? If he really cared he could have dropped $400 million or so in taxes. Orderly assimilation of immigrants is the only way to maintain the once great America, and our politicians seem to have either forgotten that or have been paid off by those seeking cheap labor.

5 million? What a joke, that should take care of maybe twenty of them. That’s less than pocket change to this guy. Why so hateful and discriminating?? /liberal standard for a charitable conservative

“America was founded as a nation of immigrants,” he says.
____________________________________________

No it wasn’t. there is no documentation that states any of the Founding father said or wrote any such thing

and why would they ??? many of the people living in the United States in 1776 and 1789 were born here and their parents and grandparents also...

I have ancestors who were living during the American Revolution who had grandparents and even great grandparents born here.. hardly “immigrants”

Even now 2015 only 10% of the American citizens of the le living here are immigrants...

“Nation” he said Citizens make up a nation...all others are not “nationals”

“America was founded as a nation of immigrants,” by colonists and pioneers.

There -- fixed it.

Wonder what his animus is against supporting BORN AND RAISED AMERICAN CITIZENS is.

Send them "home" and I don't care if they cannot speak Spanish - they have had decades to get their paperwork into the system.
