MOSCOW, June 16 (UPI) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Tuesday Russia's nuclear arsenal would be would increase by 40 intercontinental ballistic missiles in 2015.

Speaking at Army-2015 Expo, an international military trade show near Moscow, Putin said the new missiles could "overcome even the most technically advanced anti-missile defense systems," adding a new long-range early-warning radar "to monitor in the western direction" was also being prepared. It was a reference to plans by NATO to permanently place troops and heavy armaments in Poland, a Russian neighbor and former Warsaw Pact country.

In reference to apparent plans to reinforce NATO's military presence in eastern Europe, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov, speaking to the RUIA news agency after Putin's address, noted, "I believe the (U.S.) statement must be looked at together with other similar statements, which have recently been numerous. A few days ago, reports started to turn up about certain missiles put in a certain location and about certain ammunition depots in Eastern European countries and the Baltic. It looks like our colleagues from NATO member states are pushing us into an arms race."

Obama to Putin: “The 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because the Cold War’s been over for 20 years.”

The media would cheer Obama’s cleverness if he said that again. Unfortunately, cleverness doesn’t help when one side is willing to use force.

Putin is merely cashing in on the “maneuvering room” Obama promised him in 2011 after Obama’s 2012 re-election.

I’m sure Barrack has some programs to build new missiles here too. Something like “Akbar I” “Allah’s Spear” and so on.......all built with homing devices for guidance.

If Hillary gets in office, we are dead. There is no leader in the world that will respect that old windbag.

At the rate we’re going, I’m wondering if we’ll make it that far without an economic balloon pop.

Guess we’ll find out.

I've often wondered if they'll roll (openly) into Ukraine next summer. We'll have the lamest of lame ducks and be at or near party convention time. Similar events occurred in 2008 with Georgia.

In all likelihood, however, the missile rollout maintains a strong nuclear deterrent while the buy time to improve their outclassed conventional forces.

“I’m sure Barrack has some programs to build new missiles here too.”

Barry gets really excited about missile systems if the word “Dong” appears in it, just like the North Korean ones.

If you notice, Putin is always “promising”. It’s like his new weapons and the aircraft carrier, they are all superior to everything in existence, yet they are all also, merely models sitting on a table, and being “promised”.

I wouldn’t trade the M-16 for the AK-47, who would?
