On Thursday’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “The Kelly File,” host Megyn Kelly challenged potential Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump on his remarks on Twitter critical of “Draw Mohammad” event organizer Pamela Geller.
According to Trump, Geller was a “terrible messenger,” but Kelly questioned that response since Geller was in defiance of a movement that challenged American ideals.
Partial transcript as follows:
KELLY: Let’s talk about free speech because after that Pam Geller event down in Garland, Texas, where they were attacked and the two would-be Jihadi’s were shot dead by the police force, you also sent out some tweets saying why taunt in order to provoke possible death? Dumb in that moment.
TRUMP: I think Pam Geller is a terrible messenger. I think she’s terrible. We have enough problems without taunting and driving everybody crazy.
KELLY: But my question to you is, because this turned into a bigger thing, like what do we stand for as Americans if not for freedom of speech, ability to express yourself, this speech in particular which was in defiance, it’s like the cartoon that won the contest it had Muhammad standing there saying you can’t draw me and the person looking up to him saying, that’s why I draw you. It was about people trying to shut down an American ideal and this group, however unsympathetic they may have been, saying, we reject that attempt.
TRUMP: They were totally unsympathetic. Now, you look at Muhammad and you look at some of the positions they have Muhammad and some people are going to get extremely upset about it. Now, I’m not the only one and I’m not the only Conservative Republican that feels this way. They’re lucky to be alive. Why with all the problems we have, why taunt?

Trump is an idiot on politics. Why did he choose to call himself republican? He seems more democrat like to me.
She can be irritating, I think she may be a bit of a neocon... but shes right on this topic and Trump is dead WRONG.

It’s best to keep having these drawing contest because hopefully it will sink in to at least some muslims that there are worse things and this is the country they are in now.
I dont have very high hopes, but who knows.
If it’s done often enough, then it just becomes commonplace.
PLUS, they get to draw out the radicals and kill them :)

For all Trump’s tough talk on IS he’s still willing to submit to them. I wonder how far he’s willing to go to not offend islamists?

Her books are good but when she’s not promoting them she goes flakey.
This was the one thing The Donald said that I totally disagreed with. I did notice that after his initial comments he immediately shut up about this and hasn’t said peep since. I think he knows he blew it here, and got lots of negative feedback on it. Good. May he stay shut up about it.

All I know I haven’t been a huge Ann Coulter fan recently, but a month or two ago now she had an interview on Hannity and KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK.
I think it was one of the most right-on interviews I have ever seen. I was left completely in support of Ann, and thinking “why is she alone standing up on this?”.
That’s all I’m saying. She was completely right on.
If someone depicted Muhammad with The Donald’s hair, I myself might declare a jihad. You’d think that with $9 billion, The Donald could do better than that. Leaves little hope for those of us with a mere six-figure net worth.
Geller was not prudent perhaps, but the First Amendment allows such stupidity and should not be curtailed except when analogous to crying fire in a crowded building.
I recently heard an interview from last Thursday’s Armed American Radio Daily show. She said something very interesting.
She said, “If republicans could learn how to fight back like gun owners do, they’d never lose! You folks have been winning all over the country.”

Is his point to stop acting like idiots? Yes.
How is that a bad position?
The media and America need to grow up. Not everything is an offense. Even the conservatives are falling prey to the PC police.
