Millionaires control 41% of world's wealth, expected to take more

Millionaires are expected to control nearly half of the world's personal wealth by 2019, according to a new study, suggesting that the wealth gap will continue to widen.

The Global Wealth report from Boston Consulting Group (BCG) said the number of millionaires in the world grew to 17 million in 2014, up from 15 million in 2013. The world's millionaires now control 41 percent of the $164 trillion in global private wealth, up from 40 percent in 2013. The report said millionaires are expected to control 46 percent of the world's wealth in 2019.

The growing fortunes of the wealthy are owed largely to rising stock markets and asset prices around the world. According to BCG, 73 percent of the gains in global private wealth last year came from market performance on existing assets rather than newly created wealth or businesses.

"The wealthier are getting more and more wealthy," said Anna Zakrzewski, a BCG partner and managing director. "They have a much larger share of their wealth invested in equity markets and last year was a good year for market performance."(continued)

The average person thinks the rich put their money under the mattress or bury it in the backyard.

Instead they invest it in companies that turn around and hire people. They buy big ticket items built and sold by people who make money off of the purchases.

Mrs. Gamecock had this conversation with a little lib who works for her and pointed out what the rich do with their money. The little lib locked up, didn’t know what to say.

In most cases all of it. Funny that the press never touches on that.

And the rest of the world does what with the other 59%?

My personal guess is that at least 43% of that leftover part is pissed away by entitlers and the like.

so what?

It is a certainty that a hundred years ago and certainly 500 years ago the total wealth was controlled by a smaller minority of people.

there are more people with greater wealth than in history

the very poor need to get it in gear and work more and harder

“The average person thinks the rich put their money under the mattress or bury it in the backyard.”

Not only that, much of their wealth was conjured from practically nothing. The cost of the medium for Microsoft 10 is probably $1. The software itself probably sells for between $150-800 depending on various factors. He’ll still be selling it long after the labor that produced it is paid off. So he has added wealth to the system that buys products built by others; products that would not be sold, and therefore built without his efforts. He deserves to spend that wealth as he sees fit. But you’ll find our much of it is invested in other businesses who employ us lesser mortals. GO RICH PEOPLE! You rock!

Notice the title “expected to TAKE more” As if they just stole that money to begin with.

Just to keep things in perspective:

“The monstrous evils of the twentieth century have shown us that the greediest money grubbers are gentle doves compared with money-hating wolves like Lenin, Stalin, and Hitler, who in less than three decades killed or maimed nearly a hundred million men, women, and children and brought untold suffering to a large portion of mankind.” Eric Hoffer

My guess is that the liberal DIDN'T get schooled, because liberals are incapable of learning. What happens with liberals when shown that their idiotic, ignorant ideas are palpably false, is that they reject the truth and cling more tightly to their ignorance.

They could but they won’t. If someone would hand you a credit card that pays for your rent, grocery, utilities, smokes, doctor, liquor, clothes and spending money and allows you to idle away each day “hangin’ out, chillin’” and playing video games, would you work?

If you include property and 401k savings along with the number of baby boomers reaching or nearing retirement age, I would say 17 million millionaires in the world seems low.

Yeah...but, it’s better than NOT trying to inform them. If nothing else...it irks them ;-)
