Your defense of Cruz is starting to sound like the voice in the wilderness. You are going to be really busy trying to snark everybody because most have wised up about him.

TPA gives the president the authority to write the TPP bill and to bring that bill to the congress for a no ammendments allowed vote. 51 yea votes and TPP is the law. 60 nay votes and TPP is toast. Yes 51 to pass 60 to kill.

TPA is effectively the cloture vote on TPP. Here what Cruz said about cloture votes in the past.

"“That’s the vote” said Cruz, who told the group he had finally gotten some sleep after his 21-hour all-night filibuster. Said Cruz: “Any Senator who votes yes (on Friday’s cloture vote) is voting to give Harry Reid the power” to fund Obamacare. “That vote is the fight. Vote no on cloture.”

Notice the "That vote is the fight" This is the exact same situation. Only on a much more important issue.

Paul, along with Sessions and Lee (Collins, Shelby too) voted AGAINST TPA. One more time Paul voted against TPA.

> “Personally, I am angry over classified legislation being used as a tactic within our government. I didn’t like it with Obamacare, or with Net Neutrality, and I do not like it with TPP, although I understand that it will become declassified before being voted on, so that is at least something.”

Ted Cruz agrees with you. Time 56:08
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sznh5AjageI

> “The reason that I want to vote for ted Cruz to be president is because he is an honest man, and I think that is a really rare quality. However, if he were to, for example, vote for legislation that is secret to become law, I would have a serious problem with that, but that example does not appear to be the actual case here.”

Ted Cruz is not going to vote on anything secret here. The link above at the time posted shows he is informing of things most people here are unaware of.

> “He voted for TPA because he believes in free trade. I can understand that vote. Others, such as Mark Levin, would prefer that Obama not be empowered at all, and I can understand that too, but in and of itself I cannot see where Ted supporting TPA is reason enough to not support his bid for president.”

Mark Levin needs to get Ted on his radio program for about 30 minutes on this subject but that’s difficult because Ted is on a whirlwind tour meeting and speaking to the grassroots.

This is what I personally experienced that tunes me into exactly what Ted is saying:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3298888/posts?page=49#36

It was in response to a question of why Senator Sessions voted against TPA.

Now I also support Senator Jeff Sessions. Because I view both these Conservative leaders as frontline commanding generals who are debating the best strategy and tactics to defeat the left but they are on different battlefields. Ted Cruz is on the presidential battlefield whereas Senator Jeff is on the Obama agenda battlefield.

Here’s my analysis:

1) If TPA passes, then TPP, TISA and TTIP and all other related specific trade deals must be defeated. TPA can then be used by President Cruz to promote ‘Cruztrade’ which is tied to my personal experience in the FR link I posted above.

2) If TPA is defeated, then TPP, TISA and TTIP and all others like them will fail but then President Cruz will have no power to overcome the 60 vote requirement in the US Senate to push a trade deal because the democrats in the Senate will not give him the power. The ‘Cruztrade’ is going to empower Conservatives and democrats will never vote to give Conservatives more power. Evidence of this is made clear as a bell on http://elizabethwarren.com/blog. So Te is going to have to find another way to get trade deals.

> “If TPA is passed, and then the text of TPP is declassified, and it turns out to be a very bad bill, which then is voted on by congress and becomes law, then at such time those people who voted to pass a very bad bill can and should be held accountable.”

TPA requires TPP and others like TPP to be made public for 60 days before they are voted on. Again this is pointed out by Ted at the youtube link above.

I am glad to see you chris37 come to the light. That doesn’t mean supporting Ted on TPA but it does mean seeing that he remains a man of incredible integrity.

I can tell you that I am in awe of Ted Cruz. To explain why I will say I have worked with a number of elite scientific philosophers and first rate technologists, all of whom are humble, unselfish and modest. Not only are they brilliant academics but they are exemplary people of character. So when I hear Ted Cruz, I don’t immediately fall in behind him, rather I wait to see how he responds across a spectrum of perspectives and viewpoints. And I am in awe because he has an incredible command of facts and more importantly he is quick as in lightning quick. To put that in perspective when I try and get my mind wrapped around an issue, especially an issue like this trade issue, I have to bow my head, put the palm of my hand over my forehead and think and think and think. I have to pull as many facts as I can and weigh them and if I am intensely focused it can take me an hour give or take.

Ted Cruz gets to such issues in a split-second or he articulates why more information is needed and in the process he educates.

He’s a superstar. He’s better than Reagan and I shook Ronald Reagan’s hand.

Still, each time I hear Ted Cruz I am waiting to see if he’s tuned in or not. I have never been disappointed and in fact I have been made more informed after hearing him.

The takeaway is that when the trolls, hacks and media try and create a narrative to sink Ted Cruz, just be a little patient and wait for the dust to settle. Ted will respond in time and I am convinced he is incapable of disappointing.

I want to agree with you but your analysis or rather your ‘fear’ in the analogy is missing some important elements.

McConnell’s duplicitous cloture votes were brought forward after he knew the requisite votes had been secured (or bought). The vote for TPP and all others like them are not known in advance.

Obama wants primarily two things: Climate Change power and backdoor amnesty.

Obama does not have enough time in office for Climate Change power which is essentially a takeover of the Oil and Gas Industry which is a bastion of conservatism.

BUT ...

Obama knows Hillary can take up the Climate Change banner and get it across the finish line IF ONLY she can get millions of illegals registered or to the polls to vote democrat or be voted democrat.

So Obama’s gambit boils down to backdoor amnesty in TPP, TIA, TTIP and others and all of these trade deals hinge on TPA. Without TPA they are non-starters.

But what did Ted Cruz do about it?

He took a cue from Senator Jeff Sessions and he filed an amendment to TPA to prohibit any later trade deal from violating existing US Immigration Law.

That amendment was folded in with another amendment and IT IS IN THE TPA BILL. It was S. Amdt 1384 to S. Amdt 1221. Look it up.

Now to those that say that Obama does not obey laws. Obama is lawless for sure and he greatly abuses his authority, that is true.

But on immigration, Obama is facing Judge Hanen and the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. He is stopped from expanding his Executive Amnesty. He cannot get his underlings to carry out his directives in the face of violating a federal court order. His underlings risk arrest by US Marshals dispatched by federal courts and incarceration in jails that federal judges have at their disposal.

So if Obama tries to skirt immigration law and proceed with backdoor amnesty, he needs to order his underlings to carry out his wishes and they are trembling to do that. For example, the DOJ lawyers who have been caught violating the federal injunction against Obama’s Executive Amnesty are now in fear of being disbarred and possibly incarcerated. Obama does not have the power to reverse a disbarment.

So the fight is over amnesty which translates to Hillary in the White House.

Senator Cruz’ amendment to TPA shuts the door on Hillary having backdoor amnesty to win the White House.

As for me I am not advocating passing TPA or defeating TPA. I do however want President Cruz to have TPA at his back and I would bet some serious grilled steak that Senator Jeff also wants President Cruz to have TPA at his back. Because in this sense this is not about ‘Obamatrade’, this is about ‘Cruztrade’.

......”when I hear Ted Cruz, I don’t immediately fall in behind him, rather I wait to see how he responds across a spectrum of perspectives and viewpoints. And I am in awe because he has an incredible command of facts and more importantly he is quick as in lightning quick”.....

Thank you ....

I learned of Cruz when he stood all night speaking about our Constitution and how our branches of Government ‘should’ work.... It was stunning to hear him never miss a beat and was a crash course in all that America is and needs to be again. I had not heard any politician before with such a command of what our nation is.....and impressive was Cruz “believed” in what he was saying fully and completely....

During this time I e-mailed and phoned several of my friends to tune in, even though the hour was late.....telling them they needed to hear “this man” now. Thereafter I listened time and again to Cruz...which only reinforced my intital take on the man and in fact enlarged it. It's not just what he stands for but his entire way of 'working' and engaging those he's speaking with and to....as you say he is so quick to answer but I believe this is so BECAUSE what he says is the very fabric of the man that he is....

We need Cruz to win this election......and I believe he's going to do just that regardless of the full tilt opposition to keep him from that.

Go look at his Facebook page.

Out of the thousands of posts, about 95% of them are straight up saying they are no longer supporting him, since he wants to support secret legislation.

Who knows, it could have been great legislation. But since we don’t know. Since zero wanted it I bet it was a turd.

LOL....yes, because he is losing so many supporters. The same people trolling on here are trolling on there. His support has remained steady and grown on other pages. I guess then, according to you, he is finished. LOL. Right.

Interestingly, people want to see the bill but why isn’t Sessions releasing it himself?

BTW, didn’t he come out and demand the “secret” legislation be made public?

Look, I know comprehension isn’t a strong suit for someone like you with an agenda....he supported TPA, not secret. He is demanding the release of TPP...secret.

But, why are you not asking Sessions to release this super secret deal? He has access to it to you know..oh, wait, nevermind, you have an agenda. My bad.

Well, TPA is available to see. TPP, I don’t know. What is the penalty for releasing it? What’s the penalty for breaking the rules there.

I know I’d be real damn tempted to do it.
