Outside of a couple of places like Ann Arbor, open carry is no big deal in Michigan either. We can even carry in the state capitol building.

We are seeing the convergence of radical Islam and militant anti-American African-Americans. Before the reader dismisses this threat as paranoiac ramblings of a typical white conservative, consider that in the elections of 2008 and 2012 the media put into the highest office in the land a militant African American who, at least by his campaign for reelection in 2012, was known by much of the country to be such. Meanwhile, we see the apparatus of the American justice system completely suborned by this president and his two black Attorneys General.
On the streets of Ferguson Missouri, Baltimore Maryland, Oakland, Chicago, New York, and multiple other majority African-American cities in America, we see the emergence of an increasingly militant and increasingly unreasoning black mob. Facts and evidence or belligerently discarded and this mob indulges in mass violence. Earlier, we saw precursors of this tendency in the game of punching white people on the streets. The crime rate seems to increase daily and there is the beginnings of civil breakdown.
Our educational establishment has lost the struggle to educate a huge portion of our African-American population which is turning increasingly to gangs and anti-Americanism. Under these circumstances African-Americans as a group are increasingly vulnerable to demagoguery and it is not surprising that Islam is making galloping strides toward conversions in that community.
Meanwhile, the media runs interference for all of this and declines to portray militant black Islam in any truthful terms, much less negative terms. Worse, the president of the United States sets the worst possible example in condoning radical Islam internationally and opposing police forces domestically. He is setting the stage for the kind of national policy towards Islamicist jihad which can undo America.
When this coalition of influences reaches critical mass there is a real possibility that our national will to fight asymmetrical warfare waged by Islamic terrorists will prove insufficient and we will ultimately submit to sharia. It will take only a few mass casualties in the homeland caused by weapons of mass destruction of one kind or another coupled with a fifth column of tens of millions of African-Americans and the nation will be put in obvious mortal peril with no national consensus for survival. The patriotic will will be undermined by mass cynicism and inner-city chaos and even militant Islam.
Anticipating a round of criticism for either expressing paranoid views or racists views, I ask are there any broadly disseminated voices of black Americans leaders crying out against the these forces which are spiraling the culture downward and the risk level up in the American ghettos? In other words, where are the breaks which might stop this headlong rush toward disintegration?
IIRC your about roughly my age (50) and Rural. It really spins my head how we grew up with guns as no more a big deal than a chainsaw. Treat them with respect as they will kill. No biggie.
I had a 308 as a kid to hunt with and taught to use it. Even had my NY gun training certificate along with my boating cert they had back them. Hunting wasn’t my thing though but I learned young as I’m sure you did how to respect a weapon.
The standard excuse libs forward is ‘It’s different now. Thats true. It’s different and worse because liberals taught not respect, but fear of guns. And the country suffers for it.

I was just thinking the same thing the other day.
Even when I was a teen in the 80s it wasn’t any big deal to walk down main street with a shotgun and even go into the hardware store for shells or stop in the grocery store.

We had a few guys every year that refinished their guns in shop class. We walked in the front door with rifle in hand, showed the principle it was unloaded and took it to shop class. Probably the same for you.
I was in the Adirondacks in NY. All the schools there were like that. It was normal. Not one gun incident ever. Not one teacher complained, worried or called the SEALS.
They couldn’t organize their way out of a wet paper bag so to say there’ll be “terrorism” is laughable.
It's been a LONG-STANDING tactic of the black activists to use fake clergy titles as a shield against criticism - "Rev. Dr." King, "Rev" Jackson, "Rev" Sharpton, "Rev" Louis Coleman in Louisville, and a battalion of other false prophets.
And it works every time.
There is no longer doubt that this will be the next contestant on the Race Baiters Roadshow; it only remains to be seen how far they're willing to escalate violence in a white-majority neighborhood, as opposed to the urban kraals they feel safe in...

Back in the early 70s I was pulled by a State Trooper for doing 60 in a 45 speed zone. I got out my car, he got out of his. We met at the back of my car. he asked, may I see your driver's license, tag receipt and proof of insurance? I replied you can. I got my wallet out of my back pocket, opened it to show him my license. He said, will you remove them from your wallet, please? I did, and said, my tag receipt and insurance card in in the glove compartment, I have my gun in there too. You want to walk with me over there [the right side of the car]to get it. He replied no, just go over there and get them and bring it back to me. After I got my ticket, we talked for maybe 30 minutes and among other things he said was, before I was a policeman, I carried a gun in my car too. His behavior was typical of all the police where I was raised. It is not now, but it is the people's loss. now, a Plant City Policeman is the only one I would dare approach, ask a question, or just start a normal everyday conversation.
One of my friends in Detroit is a former social justice preacher. Now he preaches the gospel. Says he got sick of being angry all the time and seeing all the anger he inspired in others.
He says that most of the social justice preachers only adopt the title for tax reasons and they live off the church and the congregation. He told me about one “pastor” he knows who deliberately stirs up his congregation to inspire them to give till it hurts to fight some great social injustice. It usually ends up with the pastor buying a new Caddy.
Someone should start selling programs.
