VB did the job right on Charles Manson.
It’s too damned bad the monster wasn’t put to death...
The judge in the Manson trial had flown with the Flying Tigers in WWII and was appointed to the bench by Governor Reagan. VB had his moments of brilliance as a prosecutor and author. As noted above, his dissection of the OJ Simpson trial was the best analysis of the entire fiasco, but he later descended into liberal madness and Bush Derangement Syndrome. RIP Vince.
1) Of all the murderers, buggerers, thieves and crooks he ever dealt with, Charlie was the only one he was actually afraid of.
2) Proving Manson guilty, while admitting he was not present at the crime scenes, was one of the major hurdles he had to overcome to convict Manson.
3) Charlie made his case for him though. After he carved the X (later changed to a swastika) on his forehead and the Manson girls did the same, VB said he looked at the jury and read their faces. The case was made: Charlie had that kind of power.
On a side note: A friend of mine worked at Vacaville while Charlie was there, she confirmed VB statement in point 1. She said Charlie scared the hell out of her.
