Climate change, a factor in Texas floods, largely ignored
Texas Tribune ^ | May 28, 2015 | Neena Satija

Climate change is taking a toll on Texas, and the devastating floods that have killed at least 15 people and left 12 others missing across the state are some of the best evidence yet of that phenomenon, state climatologist John Nielsen-Gammon said in an interview Wednesday.

“We have observed an increase of heavy rain events, at least in the South-Central United States, including Texas,” said Nielsen-Gammon, who was appointed by former Gov. George W. Bush in 2000. “And it’s consistent with what we would expect from climate change.”

But the state’s Republican leaders are deeply skeptical of the scientific consensus that human activity is changing the climate, with top environmental regulators in Texas questioning whether the planet is warming at all. And attempts by Democratic lawmakers during the 2015 legislative session to discuss the issue have come up short.

Yeah, because Stevie Ray Vaughn was high when he wrote "Texas Flood". Because it's never flooded in TX before. Yeah, that's the ticket!

They can’t tell you what the weather will be like in a year, but they can tell you why.

If the annual rainfall amount increases, that’s a flooding problem and it’s due to global warming.

If the annual rainfall amount decreases, that’s a drought problem and it’s due to global warming.

If the annual rainfall amount stays the same, that’s climate stasis, and that doesn’t happen, since the climate is dynamic and is always changing.

Because it’s never flooded in Texas before.

Of course folks building in flood plains, even though the houses are on stilts, or in low-lying areas with poor drainage never thought there would be a problem. A 100-year flood? A 500-year flood? No problem, still have a bunch of years before it happens. That's not the way it works, folks. Though the probability may be low, it's there and it's the same each year. No need to wait for 100 or 500 years. BTW, this state state climatologist must be a buddy of Bill Nye, the [no]science guy who blames it all on "global warming."

Notice how all these climate changes happen in localized areas? Flooding in Texas and winter like conditions in the NE.

Up until 2 weeks ago, “THE DROUGHT” was the fault of “climate change”.

Now, the heavy rainfall is caused by the same thing.

Do these people have any idea how utterly stupid they sound?

Weather rock on weather change: (100%) accurate analysis)

If the rock is wet, it’s raining.
If the rock is swinging, the wind is blowing.
If the rock casts a shadow, the sun is shining.
If the rock does not cast a shadow and is not wet, the sky is cloudy.
If the rock is not visible, it is foggy.
If the rock is white, it is snowing.
If the rock is coated with ice, there is a frost.
If the ice is thick, it’s a heavy frost.
If the rock is bouncing, there is an earthquake.
If the rock is under water, there is a flood.
If the rock is warm, it is sunny.
If the rock is missing, there was a tornado.
If the rock is wet and swinging violently, there is a hurricane.
If the rock has white splats on it, watch out for birds.

Somehow, by empowering leftist elites, floods stop happening in Texas.
