Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) is feeling the pressure from opposition MPs, its own gay supporters and its Social Democratic Party (SPD) allies to look again at allowing gay marriage after Ireland’s popular “yes” vote on Friday.
Linke (Left) party leader Gregor Gysi told the Süddeutsche Zeitung that the Irish decision came at a time of “cultural revolution” that would have been “unimaginable” just a short time ago.
“There can’t be any more delays,” Gysi said. “It’s up to us to catch up.”
He was joined in his call by Green party leader Simone Peter, who said that Germany must “finally match” countries like France, Spain, Great Britain and Ireland which allow gay marriage. …

But the U.S. isn’t far behind as same sex marriage is now allowed in nearly all of our states. I’m the sure the SCOTUS will soon make it available in all 50 states before long.

The old label of “mental illness” is merely a stepping-stone towards social acceptance, by removing the criminal aspect.
Soccer is called “the foreign game” in Ireland, so probably not. It does make me want to reassess sports such as Gaelic football and hurling, however.
Mental illness isn’t riminal, but still is a broken brain IMO.

Ireland has announced that it’s going to “fast track” the implementation of this. One of the components of this is including it in the official school curriculum, and henceforward, all schools will be required to teach about “gay marriage.”
The big question in everybody’s mind is what the Pope will do when Catholic schools are forced to teach this. Since he provided no comment on the issue before the vote, and obviously did not encourage or support the Archbishop in providing guidance, I’d say he’ll probably accept it. If he does, as Damian Thompson said, then many of us will pick up sticks and the Church will split.
You never know where a decisive heresy or schismatic movement will come from. One author said that all heresy begins below the belt, that is, as an attempt to legitimize sexual practices or a sexual system that is unacceptable for a Christian.
Nobody expected Henry VIII to blow up the English Church over his desire to get yet another divorce (not to mention his desire to seize Church property and also eliminate the Church as any counterweight to his dictatorial power). Nobody expected the left to be able to effectively use a bunch of sexually confused individuals as the final stick of dynamite in the wall of the Church, already weakened by Vatican II but still standing. Yet that is exactly what we see going on before our very eyes.
I used to think the schism would occur after the Synod, but I think it may occur before then, possibly after some statement by Francis that accepts the imposition of that logical impossibility, “gay marriage.” So by the end of the summer, as Damian Thompson says, there may be another Avignon papacy.

A lot of these guys are Brits - and I’m pretty damn sure each and every one of them has seen “Braveheart” at one point or another.

Yep......this is just my theory, but were I a gambling man, I’d wager a couple of bucks it’s where they got the idea from.
