IRELAND’S ROAD TO SERFDOM
Breitbart ^ | May 23, 2015 | by BENJAMIN HARRIS-QUINNEY

Two supposedly landmark political events have occurred on the island of Ireland this week.

Both were greeted with an element of surprise and excitement and were hailed as great victories for the “progressive movement”, both were inevitable.

The referendum in which Ireland supported Same Sex Marriage and a departure with Catholicism was not today, it was in 2009, when Irish people voted to ratify the Lisbon Treaty. They had to vote for a second time of course, their first answer being wrong, but that was the last scism of the defence of their religion and nationhood.

The decision on both the Asher’s Bakery case, the right of Christians to resist actions that conflict with their conscience, and today’s referendum are both results of an Ireland that is once again under foreign influence.

I have met many conservatives working with or in the EU or UN who believe these international organisations that have become tools of the progressive left can be reformed, having witnessed the organised spread of Same Sex Marriage across the EU, they must now reflect upon this view. ....

As in the United Kingdom, the very worst offenders are those who claim to be conservative or libertarian and support these measures, one look at Nicola Sturgeon’s Twitter feed today should make it clear that what is happening in to western social values is grounded in the tenets of socialism and Marxism, and its results will be reflective of that.

Socialism destroys language – and thought: Ultimately, even the language is perverted. All the most treasured virtues, such as “freedom,” “justice,” “law,” “right,” “equality,” etc., are redefined for collectivist purposes, so that even thought can be controlled.”

– Friedrich Hayek, The Road to Serfdom.

Serfdom? Hell, Ireland has been dead since 1700 (or thereabouts) when the Penal Laws were enacted.
And if they alone didn't kill Ireland, the Great Famine of 1845-1850 surely did.
The best and bravest left Ireland 150 years ago.

Anyone who thinks Ireland is that wee quaint Emerald Isle of their imaginations is uninformed. The Irish regularly squander any good thing that comes their way in their slavish desire for a post-modern, Socialist easy life.

Now they have flushed whatever blessings God may have bestowed upon them in the past in favor of perversion. They have learned nothing from the priest child-molestation scandals that are still going on.

The plague of pornography has broken down more social standards than any other event. Of course it is linked with abortion and no fault divorce. Homosexuality is simply one more expression of immorality. Ireland will recoil in horror at what it has wrought.

The Irish have more pressing problems than this. Frankly I doubt this has any significance. The Church just has to make sure they turn away any such couples, what the government does is of no consequence.

It is one thing to want everyone to be equal and happy~~
but, at the price of Christian persecution?
Which is the main goal of these “progressives”.

Leftists have always played up the “equality” angle.

Their “Potato (e)” famine has turned into an intellectual famine of cosmic proportions. God Save the Irish!

Another step toward the progressie left’s version of utopia and the extermination of all who do not agree with them. Persecution and imprisonment of Christians for thought crimes will follow soon.

The hallmark of socialism is cynicism in the end all is corrupted. To understand how it works, how good becomes evil and evil good, one can read the Bible or one can read Dostoevsky.

No worries, the muslims will fill the spiritual emptiness left by the catholic church’s surrender to secular morality.

**catholic church’s surrender to secular morality.**

Where does it say that the Catholic Church endorsed this?

According to the thread catholic priests in ireland supported it.

Unfortunate but the Catholic church has become weak in defending social Conservatism, imo.

The Irish held out even against the attacks of the English Protestants. Our bishop here in St Augustine was the great (x times removed) grand nephew of Archbishop Dermott O’Hurley, who was captured in Dublin and tourtured for months and then hanged outside the gates of the city at the express orders of Elizabeth I in 1582.

What destroyed the Church in Ireland - and throughout the world - was Vatican II. This current Pope is the first one to go full steam ahead on it, and the Church is dissolving before our very eyes.

I think the schism is going to happen sooner rather than later. There will be a “gay marriage” in either Ireland or Germany, and the Pope will approve it. And then the tiny handful of the still faithful will be forced out.

I’ve heard Rabbi Lapin say that the Tower of Babel is a warming about totalitarianism. It was built with man made bricks that were all the same, but God creates stones that are all different, things like that.

Ayn Rand warned that corruption of language is a primary tool of the collectivists. It should be obvious to anyone by now that she knew exactly what she was writing about. To a liberal the word “compassionate” means being willing to take your money from you to give to someone, perhaps the same liberal, who has not worked for it. It has nothing to do with the liberal actually giving his time or money to help someone. If you, on the other hand, object to having your money taken from you then YOU are “lacking compassion”. If you have money that you have not already spent on the necessities of life then you “have won life’s lottery” and should be happy to give most of your “winnings” away. That is of course unless YOU are a liberal and then it is okay for you to keep your winnings. It would be hilarious if it were not so evil.
