I’m a Ted Cruz fan. At the same time, I find myself increasingly intrigued by Carly Fiorina.
She speaks like no one else in the field. Perhaps, in part, because she’s not a politician.
At the outset of many of her speeches, she tells a personal story about being a little girl in Sunday school when her mother said: “What you are, is God’s gift to you. What you make of yourself, is your gift to God.”
After that, she often shares the following:
I started my career as a secretary in a little nine person real estate firm. And ultimately I would become the Chief Executive Officer of the largest technology company in the world and run for president of the United States. That’s only possible in the United States of America…because our founders knew what my mother taught me. Our founders knew that everyone has God given gifts. Our founders built a nation on the visionary, and at the time radical idea, that every life has potential. And that everyone has the right -- the right -- to fulfill their potential. That is what our founders meant when they talked about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And they believed that right to fulfill our potential came from God and should not be taken away by man or government.
In just a few short minutes, Fiorina manages to interweave personal stories with core values that include faith in God, limitless human potential, and the greatness of America.
Her speeches don’t sound like they have built-in applause lines. She simply speaks. If people clap, that’s fine. She doesn’t appear to expect it or revel in it.

We endorsed Chuck DeVore in the GOP California Senate primary over Carly Fiorina. We did so because of DeVore’s proven record of staunch conservatism — which he continues fighting for now, having just helped kill a California open-carry ban — but also because we didn’t really trust or know anything about Fiorina. Carly’s conservative record was thin to nonexistent, and there were many troubling signs that she held liberal views. From her praise of Jesse Jackson, to her playing the race and gender cards against DeVore, to her support for the Wall Street bailouts, to her qualified support for the Obama stimulus, to her past support for taxation of sales on the Internet, to her waffling on immigration, to her support for Sonia Sotomayor, to her Master’s thesis advocating greater federal control of local education, to her past support for weakening California’s Proposition 13, to her statement to the San Francisco Chronicle editorial board that Roe v. Wade is “a decided issue,” Carly Fiorina’s oft-repeated claim to be a “lifelong conservative” was only plausible in the universe of NRSC staffers who recruited her in the first place.During the primary, Fiorina aggressively positioned herself to the right, aided by millions in self-funding and the support of a DC-based network more interested in her money and her connections than in any conservative principles. In addition to the NRSC’s unashamed support, Fiorina received the endorsement of major DC “pro-life” groups like the Susan B. Anthony List and the National Right to Life Committee — and got the backing of Gov. Sarah Palin and a host of DC Republicans, from Lindsey Graham to John McCain.All these groups, and our supposed betters in the party establishment, fed us several lines on Carly: that no matter what her actual record said she was “one of us”; that she would hold to her conservatism in the general election and in the Senate; that she had a better chance of beating Barbara Boxer than Chuck Devore; and that even if she wasn’t conservative, she was still better than Barbara Boxer.Whether the latter two are true or not, and I think for certain that Carly Fiorinia will be demonstrably better than Barbara Boxer, everything is hypothetical now except that those of us who knew better understood that in the general election, the great lurch left of center would begin.Let’s not abandon Carly Fiorina, but lest you be under some impression that she’ll be solidly and forthrightly with us in the Senate, understand what you are getting.The moment the great lurch left began came this past Wednesday, September 1st, in the televised debate between Carly Fiorina and Barbara Boxer.In the debate, which was dominated — as I told you repeatedly during the primary that it would be — by Boxer going on offense over Fiorina’s time as CEO of Hewlett-Packard, Carly Fiorina let loose three bombshells on conservatives:
On that last, Barbara Boxer was swift to respond: “If you can’t take a stand on Proposition 23, I don’t know what you will take a stand on.” Which brings us to the only time in the history of RedState we’ll agree with her. On September 3rd, her campaign sent out an e-mail saying she supports Prop 23 — not quite 48 hours after refusing to take a position in the televised debate with Boxer.To restate all this, Carly Fiorina abandoned pro-lifers, immigration conservatives, and every Californian who can’t find work because of their state’s eco-radical legislation (she did try about 48 hours later to get that group back). Here’s the kicker: none of this is a surprise. At least, none of it is a surprise if you paid attention to Carly’s actual record, instead of her campaign claims.So what now? Do we abandon Carly Fiorina? Polls show that she’s got an even shot at becoming the next Senator from California, which is better than any Boxer opponent has managed since 1992. Now that she’s shed any pretense of being a full-on conservative — and now that she’s apparently decided she doesn’t need her own party’s base — where does that leave us? Sure, she’s still better than Boxer. So is my dog, at least my hypothetical dog I intend to get and name Max once I have a house and yard big enough to accommodate a Chesapeake Bay Retriever.Here’s what we need to understand from this:
If you’re in California, absolutely and willingly vote for Carly Fiorina. But do so understanding who Carly Fiorina actually is. The mask is off, and there’s a squishy moderate underneath. In the Golden State, the sad truth is that our best hope is to replace a radical with a RINO. Considering the choice we could have had, that’s a shame.
I confess I’ve heard all the HP stories and I remember her run for Senate for California against Boxer?
But the one thing I admire her for is her exchange with whoever that conniving bitch was on TV who slammed her about her record HP after having brought out the “Hillary for President” banner and her wonderful Secretary of State title as evidence of Hilldog’s unquestionable excellence.
Carly handed that bitch’s ass to her on a platter. Well done!
Well, if we’re gonna go there, I’ll take Palin.
Carly is at her best as an attacker, because that is what she does.
But Carly has no principles, and left the destruction of HP in her wake.
What she is saying now is good, and her attacks on Hillary are great, but she can’t escape her past positions, nor her limited success and qualifications for running a country (even if they are many times those of the current imposter.) She should keep it up for a while, then drop out and endorse Cruz, and then she could maybe be in the cabinet. I think her purpose is to do well enough to audition for the VP role, with the notion that Hillary will be the Dem nominee, and the Republicans will need a woman on the ticket. I don’t think Hillary has a chance in hell of getting the nomination, and Democrats are just using her as a diversion until next year, when they get serious about it.
She was forced out of HP after taking the stock from around 75 to 13. She has numerous interviews where she seemingly relished the opportunity to send American jobs overseas (at least 30,000 jobs). She failed to win an election in her own state. I don’t know what successes she is going to point to, and I wouldn’t put her in charge of a lemonade stand.

She cannot beat Cruz or Walker or even Bush for the nomination. And as a vice-presidential candidate she brings nothing to the table.

That’s what makes her useful in 2016.
I’d give her a cabinet position in a Ted Cruz administration, but that’s far as I’ll go.
I will NOT vote for anyone who embraces the sodomite agenda OR supports abortion in any way, shape or form. Let the chips fall where they may. (You understand that, Pataki?)
Right now, the only candidate(s) I’d want to trash (and will) are Jeb and Marco. I don’t have a use for either. The others like Huck and Christie, et al are not in my book of likely candidates with potential (i.e., not winners or vote worthy), As far as Carly, Cruz or Walker go, I won’t trash them. I’ll let their performance and conservative voters before my state sort it out.
I will say this, I will not under any circumstance cast a vote for Jeb or Marco. I don’t care who is running on the Democrat side.
Carlie had tough decisions to make at HP, she was right in the middle of the dotcom crash. ALL tech companies let people go after the crash. What conservatives should be doing is asking liberals why, with all of the tech companies that were run by men laying off thousands of people do they point out the ONE company that was run by a woman and criticize her for laying people off? No mention of the men? What, do liberals have a different standard for women? What, are liberals women haters? What, is there a liberal war on women or something?
There is no basis for her to run for president.
She ran for Senate in CA, won the primary and then against Boxer she lost.
It would make sense for her to run again now that Boxer is retiring and there is a tiny chance of electing a non-Dem. She would have the name recognition and seeming qualifications.
Yet what she has done is move from CA to Washington DC (Virginia DC suburbs), become enmeshed in the RNC GOPe machine and launched a far-fetched and silly campaign for president.
Why?
The RNC is having candidates run as Pre-emptive strikes against Tea Party or conservative candidates outside of GOPe control.
Fiorina is running as a just in case Sarah Palin were to run, or Michelle Bachman or any other non-GOPe conservative female candidate were to run.
Similarly, Lindsey Graham is running to dilute Ted Cruz support in S. Carolina and Huckabee to dilute Ted Cruz support among evangelicals.
It might help her if she were at least elected dog catcher somewhere before seeking the white house.

It is impossible not to appreciate Carly’s brain and even her controversial accomplishments. These are the very reasons she seems to know Hillary Clinton like a book, chapter and verse. Carly can go where the guys can never dare.
We ABSOLUTELY need Carly to stay put in this race as long as possible, I think, if we are interested at all in really going nose to nose with Hillary.
Regardless of her weaknesses, if against Hillary it’s combat we want, Fiorina is the ticket.

Looking back, I am not even sure if I could call Condoleeza a great Secretary of State.
Carly might be the best speaker running right now. Lord how I would love to see her in debate with Hillary.
