In the wake of the outlaw biker shootout in Waco, Texas, where nine bikers were killed, the law blog Chicago Now suggested all gun owners should have to pass a test and get a license—which is what potential gun owners are also required to do in Chicago.

The license Chicago gun owners get is a Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card. By the way, 49 people were shot in Chicago over the weekend.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot! How stupid of us not to have thought of this "solution". Never would have guessed it was that simple.

How about this one, anyone using a gun in a felony is immediately put to death and the gun seized? Think that might cut down on crime and get guns out of the hands of criminals?? I doubt the libs would go for that one though, no, their aim, pun, is to get guns out of the hands of law abiders.

“...doubt the libs would go for that one though, no, their aim, pun, is to get guns...” Liblogic conclusion, if you have a gun, you are, without a doubt, up to no good.

All bloggers should have to pass a test and get a license (and demonstrate actual reasoning ability - that’ll weed out most of the leftists).

The Constitution doesn’t say anything about tests or licenses...and none of the other Ten Amendments do either.

They used to hang people at the County level. It is amazing to see the decline of our so-called Justice system in the past 50 years. All of the trash sitting in our jails is amazing. It has nothing to do with gun control, it is about morality.

But, owning certain guns is a felony. Careful what you wish for, your proposal might just be used as an excuse to kill all gun owners.

the illinois FOID card has no educational or testing requirement ... basically, anyone with no criminal record or record of mental illness can get one. it is not only required of firearm owners/buyers, but for ammo purchase as well. in a gun shop, it must be shown before a clerk will even let you touch a gun.

last year illinois also began offering a license for concealed carry. it requires a FOID card, plus 16 hours of classroom training, plus range qualification. the illinois concealed carry law is 187 pages long. the first paragraph grudgingly acknowledges your right to carry and the rest of document lists every place you’re not allowed to do it.

How about this “sensible measure”? Under the separation of powers doctrine, all lawyers, as members of the Judiciary (officers of the Court) are prohibited from serving in the Legislative or Executive branches in policy making capacities.

It seems that the system protects criminals more than it does normal people. Also, there seems to be no way to stop organized crime under the current system of justice.

If Chicago didn’t have some of the most strict gun control laws in the nation I’m sure at least a thousand people would have been shot there this past weekend.
Therefore Chicago’s gun-control laws saved at least 951 lives this week.

Some of those potential victims might have been children. And if even one child’s life can be saved any law is worth enacting.

(Is my logic any more ridiculous than that of the gun control proponents?)

Take a good look at the states ISIS said they intended to target after the attempted massacre here in Texas a few weeks ago.

California, Illinois, Michigan, Maryland, and Virginia all would have been key states in calling for more gun control.

How or why would ISIS all on their own select states which would be key to more gun control?
