Pretty much correct....I20 from one side of Louisiana to the other....is the worst piece of interstate in America. It’s been that way since the 1980s. I would go faster than 55 mph on that stretch of highway.
Really? In most places, if all highway construction came to a halt and if in the future there's only money for essential, well-constructed projects, life would be better.
Meanwhile, local roads that really need work are crumbling.
“I would go faster than 55 mph on that stretch of highway.”
Why would you do that?
There are new parkways and new overpasses being built all over the Houston area. If they stop right now there’s be traffic cones up and lanes closed permanently.
Wait till the EBT cards read, "declined."

A friend of mine builds rail (light, heavy, commuter) here in Chicago. A private enterprise can build for about $2 million plus or minus per mile. The Chicago Transit Authority estimates the same job at $20 million per mile.
There is an enormous amount of waste in these government transit projects. Keep the money in your state and turn it over to private enterprise and watch all the infrastructure problems (at least regarding money) dissolve.
Bike paths are it in Chicago. They traverse many neighborhoods in which you’d not want to ride your bike and nobody does.
There’s always the Tobacco Trail in Durham NC - http://www.wral.com/safety-concerns-patrols-increase-on-American-Tobacco-Trail-after-assaults/13715363/
