This was near the beginning of the Marxist (Progressive) movement in the USA. Their game plan at that time was slightly different and much more oriented toward violent revolutionary tactics. When the Depression came they thought they had a ready market of poor, downtrodden Americans that would flock to their Communist party. When that failed due to Americans devotion to their country the Marxists switched to their long range plan of infiltrating the schools, government offices and social services. As we now can see, they have been eminently successful. They are political dry rot.

The practical implementation of Hegel's theory was to identify tension 'fault lines' in a society, fan these perceived injustices into flames causing public emotions reach the boiling point.

Dialecticism. For every "X" there is a "Not X." If you can identify the opposing sides, drive them farther and farther apart until there is no reconciling them any longer, the result will be a violent combining of the two extremes which obliterates both of them and gives rise to something new.

In Hegelian terms, Thesis gives rise to Antithesis, and when the two meet, Synthesis results.

Dialecticism is part of all historical dynamics. It can arise naturally as societies evolve, or it can be created, coerced, or imposed artificially.

In their rush to redefine the world after their own image, today's socialists are forcing dialectical splits wherever they see "fault lines:" race, age, sexual orientation, fiscal responsibility, sex ... You name it.

And it's working. The sides are being forced farther and farther apart until they have little in common any longer. Have you tried talking to a liberal recently? You might as well be talking calculus with a snapping turtle.
